China Catch Can for the twins - Opinions and Input

So I have been looking into getting a catch can to assist in the longetivity of my brz engine but I did not want to spend too much money which I would prefer to invest in an exhaust or intake system. My engine is completely stock at the moment as I just recently purchased my brz. After lots of searching I found catch cans for sale for even as low as $25 or less dollars. These are being sold as universal catch cans in a 350ml size stated will fit the twins in some of the listings I have found. So today I made a purchase for one of these cans but before I even dare install on the brz I would like some opinions from fellow members as you folks are very knowledgable and always have good opinions on products. I can tell by the price and locations of some of the wholesale dealers that these are defintely produced in China. I have nothing against china products as I have had both good and bad quality products from that country. I know squat about catch cans though or how they work so I am not sure if this catch can is even somewhat legit. Below are some pics I found to show you what I purchased, these are some pics I found on alixpress although I purchased mine from a USA source.

They do not even come with instructions nor could I find any pictures of the internals of the can. If anyone has ever owned one or knows of someone that has one that would be great if you could let me know what you think about these universal catch cans. I have found some listings with people selling the same exact can for even $200 so I am not sure if the quality is there or not.

Okay so i found some threads on other forums and its best to stay away from these cans. I even found a thread were a guy cut one in half and there were so many metal shaving inside it was horrible. Also they require additional modifications and parts just so they wount leak when you receive them. Im gonna request a refund prior to seller shipping the can out to me to avoid the hassle. Ill rather not learn my lesson the hard way and have to experience the headache trying to get this sucker to work. Heres a link i found of review on one of these : https://grassrootsmotorsports.com/fo...n/49534/page1/

It is possible to cheap out too much, but generally I think the prices of bespoke shiny catch cans for imports are hilarious. You know what people used before mishimoto and Greddy made candy apple red anodized triple awesome bolt on custom JDM $400 catch cans? Used oil bottles, or coke cans and zip ties.

Going the DIY route implies a certain level of preparation. I know several people running $20 amazon catch cans with no issues, and I see enough monster cans and valvoline bottles with holes drilled through the caps at cars and coffee to know these things aren't actually that big of a deal.

hmm, since this thread is in two sections, I'll put the same thing in both

just save yourself the headache and buy one that has been produced AND tested...preferably by a company who also invests in this platform

or, be like 75% of the rest of this forum and buy the cheapest shit from the lowest bidder for the crappiest copy of something legitimate.
(in come all the cheap-skates to defend why they buy cheap shit)

I'd stay away from those cheap universal ones on ebay and such.

Like you said with the metal shavings, there could be a lot of issues.

These cheap oil cans are mass produced and they focus on mass producing as many as possible for as cheap as possible. It might be the same material as the higher priced oil catch cans... but then you run across the fact that these cheaper ones are not baffled.

If you are on a tight budget but have the know-how. You could buy the cheap $12 catch can and modify it. Put in your own baffles, etc.

Personally, I'd just go with a name brand catch can.
