Why am I hooked on this car?
I knew little to nothing about the FR-S until a week ago. I knew that a new scion model was coming in because my dealership had mentioned it to me. So I test drove the damn car and I wanted more... I wanted the damn car now! I have never had that 'feeling of fun' driving a car that I experienced with the FR-S. Not even with my RSX-S (03 and 05). And the car looks damn fine too, one of the best looking new cars I've seen in a long time. I'm TIRED of driving a boaty SUV even if it's a nice 4Runner. I'm tired of $100 fillups at the gas station. And I'm tired of the terribly unresponsive throttle and transmission in my 4Runner!
So what's your story? Rob |

Been following this car and it's development for a few years now.
I'm in my mid-40's with 2 kids and have had 2 Miatas within the last 10 years and an RX8 until last fall. I have been looking at buying an NC (3rd gen Miata) but with kids it's not really practical as I drop off my kids at school. What stood out for me was intent and purpose of this car. A lightweight (by today's standards) rear-drive coupe with 4 seats and engineered to enhance the driving experience. Sounds like the 4-seater Miata I have been waiting for. It didnt hurt that I used to own an 85 Corolla GTS, one of the funnest cars I have owned. So maybe the emotional connection to the AE86 and this car kinda bound me to the FT86. Now, waiting to start the relationship with the FR-S. Let's see how this one goes. |

Also new to this car, had no idea it was coming or available until I seen a tv commercial a couple weeks ago. I haven't even seen one in person let alone drove one and I'm already talking to a dealership about ordering one.
I traded in an 04 BMW 325i for the new Jeep Wrangler when it came out and I have missed driving something fun! It's time to get back into a sporty car and enjoy driving again. |

I have owned plenty of cars in my time but have never seen a car that appeals to all demographics like this does. I have never had such anticipation for a car before as i did for this one (18 months worth and the last 2 weeks waiting almost killed me). This car has actually trumped the hype. The drive, look and feel of the vehicle has soundly beat all of my lofty expectations.
Take your car to Merivale Friday night and see what happens. I have gone twice and its been pretty amusing to say the least. |

Paul, are you going again this Friday?
I'm not a huge fan of M&M, but nice to go once in a while. My son will freak out at all the cars (he's 6 and love cars like his daddy) so I may go this Friday. |

The problem is you may not be able to leave your car for if it's anything like the last 2 Fridays everybody wants to see all of it. I felt like I was employed by scion. I wasn't planning on going this Friday, however I would like the opportunity to meet you and see the Firestorm color as it looks great in the photos. Perhaps we could connect at 8:00 to 8:30 pm so I can see it in the daylight (and the little one can not miss his bedtime by too much). I told the people last week that they could expect to see a Firestorm FRS soon. I have to say though that I was getting paranoid that someone was going to ding or scratch the car. |

Slick, if you start to feel uneasy about leaving the car in the clutches of the crowd, I can guard it while you & your son check out the other cars. Last edited by Klinn; 06-20-2012 at 02:31 PM. |

Heard about it when the first rumors of the project to reimagine the AE86 concept came out. Dreamed of getting whatever came of it, hoping that it would work out with my lease on a Lancer I started just shortly before. My lease was up middle of may and had begun my search for a new car. Was considering an STI at first until I went to local Totyota/Scion dealer and they mentioned it would be ariving beginning of june and they were taking pre-orders.... I could handle a few weeks of walking to work in order to get this car...
![]() When I took the test drive, I couldn't stop thinking about this car. I haven't been this excited about a car since I got my old 240SX back in University. Nothing can compare to a nice FR car like this. Its just awesome. |
