Heat Shields

Is their any concern that the aftermarket exhaust components don't have any heat shields?

People usually ceramic coat or heat wrap the parts. Especially the header. I suggest ceramic coating. It looks and performs great.

To answer your question, no, it isn't really a concern and I'm sure many people run with out any form of heat shielding without a problem. Just watch for things like increased under hood temps and a warm passenger side floor board above where the exhaust is. My 240sx exhaust ran under the driver side and used to melt the back of my shoes on track days. Lol.

This was one of my concerns. A fair number of people are getting coilpack failures at the track (specifically cylinder 1), and it's believed to be linked to high temps from the header and/or cat which are routed underneath on the passenger side.

I ordered my header with ceramic coating to be safe. Going catless should also reduce temps.

cat shield bolts rusted out on my 240sx, my carpet had a hole worn through it under the gas pedal, my shoe used to melt on long trips, (no cruse control) I started bringing a phone book with me to put under my foot.

I half wrapped my OFH.
