tuners in san jose area?

Hey guys new to ft86 club. I'm looking for a tuner around the san jose area. I've only installed uel headers and a nameless axleback but I want to finally get some power out of them and stop the dam cel from being on.

You basically have two options, ECUTek and Open Flash Tablet by Vishnu. ECUTek requires a custom tune and the local tuning in SJ for that is Mann Engineering. There is also EQ Tuning in Fairfield but they aren't realy local. With the Openflash Tablet you can get a custom tune by Vishnu or you could just run a preloaded ma based on your mods and see nice gains. For just a header that is probably the route I would take as custom tunes are expensive and can be anywhere from substantially better to basically the same but you won't know until after you pay for it.

You can google Mann Engineering. Vishnu can be PM'd on here @Shiv@Openflash

I wouldn't spend the money you would spend for Mann's expensive but awesome dyno + Bill on just a header tune. If going this route, I would wait till you have pretty much nailed down your whole exhaust/intake/fuel setup.

Alternatively you can pay $300-400 for an etune that includes free updates in the future when you install more parts. This is the route I took and it has worked out very nicely with Jamesm (HRI Tuning) and Toan (Performance Tuning aka. ptuning). @mkivsoopra and @MyRx can chime in here too as they are currently tuning with jamesm.

Does Jamesm tune the OFT? If so then that would definitely be the way to go if staying N/A I think as you can get updates from a quality tuner as you continue to mod which helps justify the price imo.

Oh yeah? Hmmm

Been using Toan lately. Fantastic tuner. But I think he only does e-tunes for the ptuning turbo kit now that I think about it.

To the OP, yes there are tuners around San Jose. Mann Engineering (Santa Clara) invites @DeliciousTuning (from San Diego) to tune customers' cars on their dyno and such. Simpliest and easiest method to dyno tune your car with your existing and future mods. Contact Mann Engineering for scheduling and prices.

Another San Jose tuner resides with @Speed Element . Contact Speed Element to find out more info.

OFT is not in San Jose area but rather East Bay and they are just etunes. Buy the hardware, plug 'n play, download etunes from their website - upload to your car and go. Custom tunes, hmmm contact them.

There's also EQ Tuning in Fairfield. They custom tune. They have an open house coming up on 10/4.

As for the rest of the metioned etuners, you have to contact them indivually for methods of their etunes. There are a few etuners to choice from - some are methodical to what they do, some are not-so. Some are very cheap and some are pay-per-tune.

OFT won't work that way, only does one car per tablet.

But it's totally worth it, I think anyone who's staying NA and gets the OFT, doesn't regret it. If you're going to go turbo down the road, well then you'll want to consider Ecutek too.
