Best way to cool you garage

I have been looking around from various large fans to certain A/C units and cannot seem to settle on a solid idea of how to cool my garage so i can work on my beloved BRZ.

I live in south florida, It is very hot and humid here. Current temp is 94 degrees with high humidity.

I am hoping someone has experience with this and has found the best possible solution.

I have a 1-2 car garage (1 door) with CBC construction all around. So solid concrete. And i also have a attic directly above the garage and throughout part of the house.

Thanks in advance guys! Hope to hear some great ideas!

EDIT: there are also no windows, have 2 little cinderblock sized gaps in one corner of the garage, i guess to prevent from carbon monoxide poisoning, they are quite small however.

Have a smaller 1-ish gallon version in my room and it works pretty well.

Take 3 midol, 2 shots of fireball whiskey and punch yourself in the nuts. That prescription if taken before you begin work should make you just man enough to work on the car. If the midol wears off just diuble up on the whiskey or nut punches

Don't think i would get an entire misting fan setup :P don't have that much room. And i saw that 5 gallon bucket thing, would it really affect an entire garage? Or would it more be just to cool me off?

Garage
Have you got a budget for this?

I'm thinking the only way to have a consistently cool garage would be to insulate the place and get either a portable A/C or one of those split A/C units (depending on square footage). Everything else would just be temporary and won't do much to cut the humidity.

Used to live in SFL, and did a good bit of woodworking and auto stuff in my two car garage, that was just as you described. Here is what worked for me (it won't get it "cool" but might make it more tolerable).

You need airflow. My attic stairs opened into the garage so I would open it, and put a large window fan laying down in the attic over the hole that sucked into the attic. Then I had a decent sized oscillating fan that I had to keep the air stirring. Had I had the money I would have installed a "whole house" type fan to push air into the attic.

I found as long as the air was moving, I could work in there on the worst days, even though it would be hot.

Then again, in my younger days I was a roofer (Dad owned a roofing company) so I have a higher tolerance for heat than most.

Cousin of mine uses one for his living room which is roughly the size of a two car garage. Works really well, but then again, it probably has better insulation than your garage.

Like others have said, insulating your walls combine with some sort of cooling equipment will be your best bet at getting real results.

In my garage I have a AC vent, basically when the ac is on in my house, cold air still comes out from the vent in the garage. A little bit, but if you put a fan under it then cool air will circulate around your garage as well.
