Is this a good lease price?
hey guys, im new here to the forums... been thinking about getting a BRZ for a while now. I just got quoted from a socal dealership... $2,500 down and $300/mo including taxes. 3 year lease. 12k mi/year. this quote was done with some negotiating.. so i'm not even sure if i could go lower.

Buy used, your payment will be about the same and you will still have the factory warranty.

I'll never understand leasing..
You're going to spend $13k over 3 years, and at the end have nothing to show for it. If you bought a certified used for ~$20k, as long as you get at least $7k (highly doubt it will depreciate that amount) for it when you trade it in after 3 years - you are still making out better than leasing.

14 BRZs prices are down a bit here plus there doing 0% interest for 72 months. They may negotiate a little too, they want the 2014s gone and they have a lot.

There are constantly people trading in cars with only a couple thousand miles on them because they can't afford them or decided they don't like the car. Even buying new leftover previous model year cars can be cheaper than leasing..

chupacindahouse - it kind of sounds like a decent deal.
I know what these other guys are saying about buying used and all the other crap, however guys you know some people just prefer to lease. I have leased a few vehicles and you know its nice, I never wanted to buy the car, I never wanted to modify the car, I just wanted to drive it for 3 years and then be able to hand the keys over and not have to think oh gee am I upside down, do I have to try and sell this now? I walked in handed the keys over and walked out, so I get the appeal, leasing is just for some people. I would do it again depending on the car, I bought the BRZ because I will mod it and keep it as a second car. |

hmm.. thanks everyone for all the feedback! yea... i kinda like the ease of just returning the car with no questions asked at the end of the lease. i will take all your comments into consideration. i really appreciate it, everyone!

Taxes are factored into the lease payment, so you're only taxed on the part of the lease you pay for. However, leases have a LOT more restrictions and limit you on what you can do to the car and mileage you can drive. Overall, with a lease, you pay a premium for convenience. If you're willing to pay that premium, then sure, lease it. Same thing as buying new vs used.
The main thing we need to know is Money factor (dealer may quote you "interest rate" or "apr" which is just the money factor * 2400), residual, and lease length and mileage. Keep in mind that you negotiate the cost of the car FIRST. NEVER mention leasing or buying, even though they ask you. Lease is done through the BANK, not the dealer, so the dealer will have more leverage to try to talk you into a higher selling price if they hear "lease" up front.
