Tanabe Concept G vs. HKS Hi-Power (Single Exit)
Ello maties...
I'm looking at these two exhausts currently as my next purchase. I don't think a lot of people own these yet, as most seem to go with a tomei if they're going single. Any thoughts...found some videos & threads. I was originally going to go with a Q300, then I saw that it weighed heavier than stock & that really turned me off. So I just said screw it & go lighter. I do like a little bit of angle on the muffler tip. My other concern was would there be any ground clearance issues with either setup. Help me decide :S Hopefully we can get some owners on this topic as I haven't seen many threads on these exhausts. They seem to be a good quality mid-level single exhaust. I'm open to suggestions but I think I prefer the looks of the single tip exhaust. As far as budget trying to stay under 800 or so. Need to save money for suspension.

I bought the tomei 60R, it sounded good up until I upgraded my headers. Don't get me wrong, the sound was actually pretty awesome.
Well anyway. I picked up an extra cat back off a member here, cut off the resonator from the mid pipe and had it welded up together coming out of the passenger side. It's a bolt on axle back , and it sounds really good for what it is. But I wanted something more since I was so used to the tomei. I ended up ordering the nameless performance muffled track pipe with 5" mufflers. I haven't received it yet, but I'm almost positive that this is the best option that's out there as far as a single exhaust set up. Check it out, you might like it and it won't cost you an arm and a leg. As soon as I get it I'll post something up, there is a complete lack of videos for this piece. I'll have it paired up to some open flash headers with stock op/fp/mp, and possibly the nameless performance resonated op/fp combo (catless) it's currently off my car because I'm waiting to see how it will sound as is. |

I feel like it'll be one of the louder setups since you have headers too. Regardless post the results! I'm interested . What Catback did you use? I still wanna know if anyone has either one of these exhausts, I mean there has to be somebody haha. I mean come on :p.

You may also want to check out Touge Factory's single exit exhaust setups. They are a really good shop in the Chicago area. http://www.tf-works.com/tf-cat-back-...-s-subaru-brz/
They look really good and sound pretty great too. I will contact the guy I know who works there to see if I can get any video clips so you can hear it. Or I will take a video/pictures this weekend at a meet. For me it's between the HKS Hi-Power, Tomei 60s, and the TF turned down tip.

The other thing I wasn't sure about but from pictures it looks like you get better ground clearance if the exhaust exits on the drivers side. When an exhaust exits on passenger side it looks like it has to take a weird path and is much lower to the ground. Can anyone confirm this?

I just didn't like the sound of the Tanabe as much. I prefer the sound of the HKS between those two. I really like the Tomei (especially the weight savings), but That's pretty much $400 towards an EL header, so it would make more sense to spend around $500-600 on the exhaust. (working on getting a video of the exhaust)

It sounds extremely clean in person. I love it, but like I said, I'm waiting on my 5" nameless muffled track pipe. The stock mid pipe works just fine and the nameless track pipe is perfect for weight savings at the same time. Honestly go to their website and check it out.

Personally I would get the Tanabe if I was going to single exit. But I love my dual canister setup too much to switch!

For some reason, I'm getting tired of my dual exhaust set up. I've been looking into the Tomei type 80 for a long while now (even before I got my dual exhaust) and am really to biting the bullet and buying the damn peace of metal but many third parties say that it drones like crazy, especially with a catless header. I just might go with the Nameless track pipe with 5" mufflers, when the aforementioned user (too lazy to scroll up and type your name sorry lol) receives his. By the way, that custom axleback sounds really fucking good with your OFH.

I hope somebody posts more video of these exhausts soon. I have been eyeing both of them for a few months now trying to decide which one to get. I don't want a loud exhaust but I would like to go to a single.

I was about to pull the trigger on getting the tanabe. Sounds nice but idk what to get. Either q300, t1r, tanabe, or custom center exit
