VIS AMS CF hood review

Ordered from Bodykitdepot.com, packaged very very well and delivered at a reasonable time (out of stock at the time of order).

Fit like a glove on the first try of install:

Nice finish, the hood clamps down good when you close it and very large vents for the FI guys:

As for the heat issue, I can see heat waves coming out of the vents when the car is stopped. I have not seen dramatic heat reduction while driving hard or stop and go traffic. However, the recovery time to cool the temp has improved.

I probably need more air coming in now, and plan on drilling the front bumper with small circular holes to see if more air flow will help with the coolant temp issues.

I am planning on paint matching the hood, but do you guys have any recommendations to keep some CF parts visible? Or keep it all CF as is? Or some funky designs? any suggestions would help!

That is the exact same hood I am considering to get. Do they come with the rain blocks?

Also, I think the color flows with the rest of the car black wheels etc so I wouldn't bother paying someone to paint it.. but don't take my word, since I don't care much about the cosmetic mods my opinions may suck

The two front vent angles and sides of those louvers I'd leave CF rest white IMO. Now ensure your painter talks to VIS about their epoxy process and best methods of coverage or he and you are going to have a bad day.

Onto function as someone else asked I thought these came with rain tray underneath as well? If you have that, I assume you do can you comment on any air/heat movement with the tray on? Some say yes just reduced others say none sure be nice to know and understand if with tray that it's not completely blocked off???

I'm highly considering this hood as a winter project myself but having issues getting clarification on the tray part...

yes they do come with rain guards. They block the vents, but the tray them selves have holes in them so it is not completely blocked off.

How do the rain guards mount? Does the mounting system feel secure and duable as if it would last for many, many uses?

they mount directly on to the hood with 6 screws each. I put back the screws on the hood so I don't lose them lol. Very easy on/off and there shouldn't be any concern of it flying off.

Do you need the rain guards mounted for washing the car?
