Annoying Alarm Honk when Locking/Unlocking/Trunk Closes

So I am very sorry if this is covered somewhere else. I have a 2013 FRS and I do not know how to turn the honking off when it locks/unlocks. The soft beep is nice but the horn is unbearable. I come home at 10pm at night and all my neighbors hate me I'm sure. I need to know how to either disable the honking or find out exactly what make/model alarm I have. The stealership has been worthless on this one. I bought the car used from a different dealer who says they didn't install it and capistrano toyota says that if the car was bought used then they don't know if its their system or a random aftermarket security system so they won't even look. Capistrano Toyota in Dana Point, CA are completely useless. They suck. So onto the functions of the alarm (to help identify it):

Lock button = 1 honk and 1 soft beep

Unlock button = 2 honks and 2 soft beeps

Trunk = 1 soft beep no honk (UNLESS I close the lid when the car is locked. Ie- i locked the car while it was open, or the car auto locked itself) then it honks 6 effing unbearable worthless stupid times!

Please help me disable this P.O.S. annoying alarm system. Between the engine chirping and the sh*tty sound system (which I've already started upgrading) and this I'm gonna light this car on fire. This car is like if god made a gorgeous woman with a great body and a great personality and great physical fitness and then gave her a voice so annoying you can't stand to be around her.

I may be wrong, but I believe the dealership has the tools to change this for you. Call them up and double check.

I think FR-S don't have a factory alarm. Did you check your owner manual for the alarm?

This is an issue with your car's aftermarket alarm system. I don't believe Scion/Toyota offers a factory one. Chances are you'll have to figure out exactly which alarm system was installed on your car and then go from there.

Ahh! After much research I have solved the issue!

retoocs - I don't know if it's a factory alarm or not but I did consult the manual and there was nothing in it as far as alarm system programming. Just key fob operations.

I found directions on a Honda Forum for how to reprogram an alarm system to not have the honks. The soft beeps still remain however. I have no idea if this is an aftermarket alarm or if it's a standard very common one but if you are having the same issue as I described up above then here is the solution.

First before starting this you need to locate the small light under your dash just to the left of the steering column. There is a circular button in the bottom of that light. Remember where this is because you're going to press it in a few seconds.

- Sitting in driver seat with doors closed, turn key to on position. (The position right before ignition)

- Wait about 3 seconds.

- Turn key to off position. (I left the key in the ignition. Not sure if this makes a difference)

- Find the button you located on the light under your dash and press it 3 times. It doesn't have to be super fast. About 1 button press per 3/4 second.

You're horn should honk 2 times confirming that a change to your system has been made.

Remove your key from the ignition.

Test it out:

Without opening your doors press lock and unlock on the key fob a few times. Your car should let out soft beeps letting you know that you have the coolest and now slightly less annoying car on the road.

I can confirm that this works for the 2013 Scion FRS. I don't know if the buttons are located different places on different models and different years but this worked for me and I hope it helps everyone else who hates horns honking and pissing everyone in the surrounding area off. Thank you to all the users who tried to offer solutions.

AFIK, only the BRZ Limited comes with an alarm. Everything else is dealer installed. Sounds like you have this one.

That definitely looks correct. Thank you for providing the manual for future reference.

Going to try this. Last thing I want is to hook up a set of Hella Supertones while this is going on.
