In case you guys hadn't seen it, pretty crazy story involving Jessi Lang from Motor Trend.

I enjoy track season, but this is a sobering reminder of the risks of speed, even in a caged car. Stay safe everyone.

Wow... Just... Wow...

It could be argued that it was a dumb move to fly by someone going so much slower, even if she was travelling at a legal speed... This is something we've all done, so no elitist blame can be cast. Could this have been prevented? Sure, but so could a lot of things.

More relevantly however, there are a lot us out there that believe that we are better than average drivers/riders. However true that may be, no matter how much we believe we pose little risk to ourselves or others, situations may arise that cannot be mitigated by skill or reflex and you're simply left to deal with the aftermath should you survive it. These are the situations that were not prepared for, the "freak accidents' if you will.

Be careful out there. Anticipate problems, drive carefully, adjust your attitudes, and live a long and happy life. Nobody is invincible.

Yeah it's the differential in speeds that's so dangerous. It's surprising to me that there aren't crazier wrecks on the autobahn with the normal traffic vs. the guys going flat out.

Also nice post, especially the last two paragraphs. There are times I find myself driving somewhat aggressively on my commute, but watching this video reminds me it's not worth it, especially with a passenger.

Smh. Poor girl, i watch hers car reviews video on youtube had no idea this happened to her, thanks for sharing, im glad shes ok and continue to recovering and still enjoy hers passion for cars.

There are VERY FEW unlimited speed sections. For the most part, it's slower than US interstates.

Even on those unlimited speed sections, I never saw anyone going stupid fast, and very few people went stupid slow. Probably a tourist
