Wow, you certainly went under a bumper there. What happened?

Exactly what you say - under a bumper. It was a Ford 350 van in this instance. There's a section of highway in Atlanta where people dart into an exit only lane in front of unsuspecting vehicles which then have to stand on the brakes. ... Oh wait ... that's _ALL_ of Atlanta highways.

Unsurprisingly, I was cited. My airbag deployed, but no injuries, and the van didn't have even the slightest scratch. I was happy to discover that no fluids were spilled, the hood is only slightly pressing on the intake (the hose just before the throttle), and the car started and would drive just fine. I'm not exactly sure how fast I was traveling.

Regardless, it sucks.

no injuries or not, go get checked out.

That way if you have problems 3 months down the line(hopefully you wont), there might be some hope that they can tie it to this, if you did end up with an injury from the accident.

How are they handling it since the other driver pulled out in front of you?

Wow ... <hug>

sorry that that happened - I hate when people do shit like that, and because you're the car behind them involved in the accident, it is harder to argue that you weren't at fault.

I had a scary incident a few weeks ago where I was driving in the right lane down a 35 road at speed limit, and then traffic in front of me started braking hard, I pulled out into the left lane after a car had passed me to avoid breaking hard, and then that car in front of me went from about 37mph to a dead stop as soon as I merged behind them and was still accelerating a bit from doing so.

Thankfully (I give most of the credit to my car) I saw what happened and came to a very hard, abrupt stop - tires screeching, etc.

It turns out the frigged truck in front of me came to an abrupt stop because they saw a pedestrian standing at the side walk waiting to cross (they still had to cross over the lane of traffic next to us, but regardless they looked like they were waiting for traffic to pass anyway and didn't want a bunch of cars breaking for them).

It drives me bat-shit crazy when I see people do shit like that that is likely to cause an accident and put other drivers at fault. I see people around here nearly cause accidents all the time because they treat a light that has just turned yellow like it is a full-on red and stop halfway in the crosswalk instead of going through the intersection, and the person behind them has to brake uncomfortably because there was time for them to make it through the yellow as well - and then ofc those are the same sort of people that look at you like you're just a reckless asshole when they have no concept of driving being a dynamic situation.

Sigh shit-for-drivers is a topic I could go off about endlessly, but I'm glad you're alright for the most part and I hope you can get everything worked out with the insurance, and you won't have to go too long without being able to drive your baby.

This was the short strip between Roswell Rd and GA 400. During rush hour people are jockying for spots to either get on 285, get off of 285 for Glenridge Connector or 400 North or South. At times, it's absolute insanity.

Even while I was parked in the gore waiting for a tow people were crossing in front of and behind me. If it's not the worst merge in Atlanta during rush hour, it's certainly competing for it.

I can't blame the van driver because he laid on the brakes due to someone darting across the gore in front of him. Of course, no one signals what they're doing, they just speed alongside until something roughly the size of their car opens up, then they jerk the wheel into it.

Of course, I am the most patient and best driver in the world an am completely blameless in this.

I should also add that God decided to punish me by giving me a Chevy Cruze as the rental.

I've had farts that traveled faster than that thing.

Seriously though, we can both cry together. Here, happened 1 week ago (not quite as much damage as yours though, since I tried to dodge to the left): http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71087

Let's hug it out, bro.

Have you heard anything yet? And I've thought about a camera because my commute is 30 miles each way, 99% on just two highways. I've never even had a speeding ticket - this is my first citation. I'm not an angel behind the wheel, but I hope my record suggests I'm at least competent. I still can't believe how many people I see reading or typing on their phones at highway speeds. It's as if physics doesn't exist in their world.

I'm gonna see if the shop will mount mattresses all around my car.

Car is at the shop as of yesterday, and my claims adjuster guy sounds pretty certain that I won't be "at fault" for causing the accident, despite the obvious fact that I could've avoided it by not trying to run the yellow .

I'm no angel behind the wheel either, especially in this car, but the DashCam is good insurance for a mere $50 either way. I feel naked without one now lol
