Axelback Installation Help!

So I just bought an sp elite system but I'm having trouble installing it since I'm pretty new to working on car stuff. I figured a good place to start learning is to attempt putting on a bolt on. Anyway from what I've heard from other members, this installation is supposed to be quick and easy but I can't seem to loosen the bolts part of the axelback flange. Is there a trick to remove these or do I need to start lifting more weights haha. Maybe I would need a longer wrench? Any help would be appreciated!

Make sure you are trying to turn it the current way.

Longer wrench makes it easier. But it shouldn't be hard at all. Did mine in under 30 minutes or so.

I ran into the same problem but lucked out when the body shop that repaired some tree fall damage put it on for free. When I tried I used wd-40 and the entire car moved when I turned the wrench but not the bolt. Good luck.

Is it a bolt and nut combo, or is it just a bolt? I swapped everything to a cat back so I wouldn't know.

If it's a bolt and nut combo, you coul try putting a little heat to the nut or apply some freeze off to the bolt.

Get a breaker bar from harbor freight its like $10 and/or spray the bolts with wd40 then let it sit for a few minutes then try removing. It's easier having a second person to hold the nut while the other removes the bolt.

If you have trouble removing the rubber hangers you can also spray them with wd40 and they will slide right off.

Here's a step by step
1. Remove 2 bolts connecting stock axleback
2. Slide stock axleback off car-wd40 helps
3. Put rubber hangers in new axleback
4. Hang new axleback on car
5. Secure with bolts

Try WD40 or some Liquid Wrench to loosen the bolts. I had an exhaust bolt break and the car was only about a year old at the time.

I'm new to this whole boxer engine world. I just replaced my Lexus for an FRS. I'm curious to know would I need a tune if I replaced my Axel back?

No. Axleback does nothing to improve performance...only looks and sound. Same with a cat-back, really. Your main restrictions in flow are going to be the primary and secondary cats...once you replace both of those with open pipes, I'd say it's time for a tune. Until then, you're fine.

As far as the original question, just apply more force. There is no trick. The only thing I can recommend is picking up a couple new exhaust hangars (the rubber pieces), because I found it easiest to cut the old ones off, rather than trying to slip them off. They're cheap, and it'll save you a lot of time and frustration

yeah breaker bar to have good leverage to break that bolt. WD40 helps or PB Blaster.
