OEM Driver Side Wheel Scraping? - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

I went to look at my car at the shop (getting it SC) and I noticed the driver side wheel well plastic (between the wheel and the front bumper) is all sorts of shredded. Do you guys have this problem? I didnt get to take a picture but ill post some up tomorrow. I just threw on a set of enkei RC-T4 in 17x8 +48 with 225/45 rubber, but the shop barely drove the car so I doubt it was from those. Thanks!

That offset sounds wrong which could chew up those wheel well liners pretty quick.

Well, this must have happened before I put the new wheels on there. Also the offset is the same as the stock offset, its just that the wheel is .5" wider.

There were no marks on the new tire /wheel combo. Ill check the old ones.

Put the wheel at full right lock and check if anything is close to rubbing. Are you lowered? I have the stock wheels with a 20mm spacer and they don't rub, so aftermarket 1/2" wider each side with stock offset shouldn't rub either...

Also it seems the clips that hold on the liner fell off, so maybe at speed the air was pushing it back. Just a theory for now.

That theory makes perfect sense. Airflow from the bumper inlets and from underneath could certainly push it around. Also could be why you haven't noticed it at low speed, because A- it isn't rubbing without deflection, and B- wind noise masks the rubbing noise at speed.

Thanks! Not moving to Denver, just shipping the car out there to do some driving of your roads, Denver, Utah, Wyoming, etc. A bunch of us are driving through some of the sites out there.

Stock wheels are 17x7, so your new ones are a full inch wider at the same offset.
