I bought my BRZ in Austin, Texas. (Not going to lie, I stepped on the lot for a WRX).
This thing has been one awesome piece of Hardware. I love it, love it so much that I don't wanna take it with me when I move to Boston, not yet at least. I've never been to the Northeastern part of the country. (Or eastern for that matter). The BRZ is my weekend car, my Nissan 06 Sentra has been my Daily. My Nissan Sentra is a bit worn down by now, 134K miles, and I've been driving it wrecklessly. So I was hoping to use that for the time being to break myself into Boston, and the way people drive, rather than take it out on my BRZ. BRZ will go with my Sister in El Paso for time being. [She wanted the FR-S [Manual] and flipped when I got the BRZ, so I think she's ready] But the dry climate in El Paso does bug me since I seen some of new cars new paint get worn down fairly quickly. Not sure if this due to improper care, or weathering issues. What are some weather factors I should be concerned about, Desert, Humidity, Snow (Snow-Salt). How can I prevent them, if needed? Like if I do take it to Boston, Where snow does occur, how would I prepare myself for it? [And if you disagree with what I decided, what would you do? Trade in the BRZ for a WRX, and wait patiently for a later BRZ? Or Trade in my Nissan Sentra for a WRX] Manual Transmission, 2014 BRZ Owner Since: Nov'13. |

For snow, snow tires and keep it washed. PITA, but it is what it is..
Or just use a DD and not give a crap. No idea on the El Paso thing. Can she keep it in a garage?

Living in MA I can tell you that you will need snow tires or a winter vehicle. You will also need to wash it regularly, I have a touch less monthly wash pass so I could wash everyday if needed. With that being said the car is a blast to drive in the snow. Also it's only July so you could enjoy some of the back roads in NH, or take the BRZ down to the cape for a nice drive.

Washing frequently? Is that what needs to be done to prevent undercarriage corrosion? I hear the road salt for the snow is something I should worry about. |

I used to live out in west Texas. Main concern is the heat fading paint over the years. I kept my car covered as much as possible - buying car ports at apartments, parking in parking garages, etc. Costs some money, but basically evens out if you were to live in a snowy climate like Boston and had to buy snow tires and all the other maintenance.
Also, the dirt. Oh goodness, the dirt...

Yea you should wash at least once a week to slow down the rust. There will be rust no matter what.
