2014 DFW Cruise

Cross posted from NASIOC:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...4#post42214354

Last summer I threw together a cruise and had such a good time that I have decided to do it again.

The plan:
Get between 5 and 105 fellow enthusiasts to drive some fun twisty back roads around the DFW area for between 2 & 4 hours on Saturday July 26, Sunday July 27, or August 2 (depending on maximum possible participation).

We will have a few preplanned assembly points and the route will be posted ahead of time so if anyone gets lost or can only do part of the crosse they can easily join up with the group.

Ideally we would meet at a start point, drive for about an hour to the first rally point then drive another hour or so to the second meeting place for lunch. After lunch we'd do another hour or so of driving before stopping at rally point number 3, then we drive to the finish and the post cruise meet.

What I need from you:
Sign up in this thread if you are interested; tell me which day you prefer, how many people are coming with you, and if you can help either pre-driving the route, have some sort of hookup for lunch or cool meeting/rally spots, and/or know some local businesses that would want to sponsor the event.

Anyone is welcome and all driving will be within the limits of the law, safety, and good sense. Last year the only issues we had were: a warning for no front plate during the inspection run, a fix it ticket for an old AE86 during the cruise, and a small group getting separate from the main pack (rally points should fix that).

Sign up below and feel free to PM me with or for contact information.

Proposed route

I'm always down for a good drive. Just a heads up though, the east/west section of FM 5 near the Willow Park/Aledo usually always has heavy traffic. It is a fun road to drive, but there are a lot of cars. Also the police in that area while few, are very strict. I work in that area and know a few of the local PD fairly well. They don't give warnings. Not saying don't go there, but be careful and use caution. Also on Crowley Plover road off of 377 is sometimes a heavily policed area. But once you hit Winscott Plover, all should be good.

If you drive the route and it turns out to be iffy, just a suggestion, we used this route I made for our DFW spring cruise and everyone enjoyed it. I'm always down for finding new roads to drive though, so if yours turns out to be good, lets go with it.

114 miles and I think we did it in about 3 hours with a couple of stops.

Kelley road was one of the best parts of the route last year, there just aren't a lot of ways to get there. Speeding in or near towns is strictly verboten to avoid unneeded attention from the authorities.

I've added you to the list, we have enough people to do the Saturday, July 26 date for sure (I wouldn't be opposed to doing it all again on Saturday, August 2 but that will have to wait).

I work on Saturday July 26, so it would depend on what time the run is at.

Starting at 10am and ending around 2:30pm, so prime work hours, unfortunately.

I'll add you to the list, we have decided on this Saturday, July 26 @10 am. The scouting run went well and only a couple of minor changes were needed for the event.
