I'm Looking for a good school for auto mechanic and good places?

Hi their name is kiname, I'm actually looking for a good school so i can start my automotive career. I haven't really found anything yet, but the areas of expertise i would like to do are Auto Mechanic, High Performance Tuning, Auto Body-Collision and Repair, Composite Fabrication, Street Rod and Custom Fabrication, Motorsports Chassis Fabrication. I know this may be a lot for some one to take on but i fell in love with my 2014 FRS and i'm hooked now. If any one know of any good places/ schools to learn these talents please let me know and i would like to apologize ahead of time if i'm posting this in the wrong section of the forums please bare with me i'm still new to the site. Thank you!!

I looked into this career YEARS ago. Consesis was to go to a community college and continue from there.

Have you looked into this career to extent? I backed out because it's a lot of work for a little bit of money. There will always be the exceptions to the rule, but for the most parts, I just ran into a bunch of pissed off, bitchy mechanics. Turned me off from that time on and I went onto my second love of finances.

The most successful tuner I personally know is Greg at RET in Downey CA. (there are many more, I just haven't spent a lot of time with them) When he was tuning my cobra one day, I asked him how he got involved in what he was doing. He said, "I was just tuning friends cars. It started out as more of a hobby and just grew from there." The guy is insanly busy. I had to book a couple weeks out for a 30 minute tuning session, lol.

Point I'm trying to make is start talking to some mechanics. It REALLY has to be a passion for you to stick with it. Second piece of advice I would give you is become good at ONE thing. Welding, fabrication ect. Doesn't mean you can't do the rest, but you need to be valued for a "speciality"

That's what I learned when I searched. Hopefully there will be some mechanics that come in here and tell me I'm wrong, and I welcome it. It's been about 4 years since I was looking into it so I hope it has changed since then.

Good luck to you, sir!

Amen brother!
I went to UTI with the same passion and after graduating found out regardless of education all shops start you off changing oil...I did.n't spend 30k to change oil. Also I realized working on other people's cars just wasn't as fun as working on my own. Any way I have since went on to law school and don't regret the transition a bit
