Finally got an FR-S, new STOKED user with some questions.
New owner of a 2013 White out FR-S with a little over 9k miles and I can't stop grinning from ear to ear. First question, is whiteout a rare color or do they no longer offer it? I thought I read that somewhere. But I have wanted one ever since the development debuted on Autoblog and Jalopnik. I'm a total gear head, grew up racing gokarts for 10 years, rebuilt a 71' Charger and have done some work on my dads 78' Ferrari, and not to mention my last car was a 2005 Honda Civic that had 200k miles on it, so needless to say I knew that car inside and out like the back of my hand because of how much work and maintance/replacements I had to do on it. I haven't stopped smiling since I picked it up two days ago and have already burned through a tank and a half of gas. Basically just wanted to introduce myself because I will be spending a lot of time on here with the amount of upgrades and add ons I want to do. The only upgrade it currently has is the Borla exhaust, which I will say sounds good. Which brings me to two questions, should I remove the resonators? (Saw it online somewhere) and would I have any benefit of removing the CAT? I don't have to pass emissions because of the county it's tagged in. I removed the cat on my old civic after the ceramic had completely clogged up, and it seemed like it flowed better. So any site and company suggestions for parts will be much appreciated for intake, headers, lowering springs and or coil overs and ECU "mapping"? Messing with the ECU is something I am not at all familiar with so a brief explanation of that would be much appreciated as well. I've heard about the torque dip and if I buy an ECU configurator or whatever it's called can't that be do fixed with that as well ax improving the tuning? Also any tips tricks and suggestions for parts and improvements will gladly be accepted. I am contemplating rebadging to Toyota as well just because I know the history of the roots of this car. I love in the Atlanta area so if any of you are around here let me know, because I'm looking for a car club to join and have actually signed up for the Autocross Novice Orientation at the SCCA Event this Sunday down at Turner Field and am going to start attending Caffeine & Octane up in Alpharetta. I thin it goes without saying that I am stoked for the Autocross event. Thanks for all your input guys, my goal is to build a track day car that I can still use as my day driver. As I said earlier I haven't stopped smiling from ear to ear and I'm even more looking forward to my new project car.

That's how you know he is genuinely excited to have his car, he forgot how to use the return button.
Welcome

Whoa there.. Slow down a little..
Why not just drive it and leave it stock until you know what you have.. Then and if you get tired of it, you can mod something.. I see too many youngins too eager to make this car into something it's not.. Only to be disappointed with what they turn it into.. Go slow.. Enjoy it out of the box.. Then address what YOU think it might need.. Just a bit of advice from someone who used to do the same stuff some years ago.. Nice car.. Enjoy it ! |

Welcome!
Don't remove the catalytic converters. You may gain 1-2 hp, but it's not worth the toxins dumped into the atmosphere or into the car behind you's AC vents.

I think you're thinking of a resonator - in which case I agree.

Welcome and congrats on your new purchase. I bought mine 4 months ago and still smile every time I look at my car.
![]() You asked about the Whiteout color. I'm pretty sure I would never use the term rare with this color. Since the 2012 release of this car it has been the single most popular color for the FR-S. It seems like half the folks on this forum have Whiteouts. That said, it is now a discontinued color for the 2015 model year. So once all the 2013 & 2014 Whiteouts get sold, the number of Whiteouts will no longer increase.

Yea I think first purchase I'm going to make for the car is the clear car bra because I absolutely hate rock chips and I want to get it on there before any damage is done from all my highway driving. My father said he had read where there was a main brand most people recommend and there's actually a place here in Atlanta that installs a good brand.
