Integrity Concepts 10" Passenger enclosure review

This is a review of my experience with Integrity Concepts and their 10" passenger side sub enclosure.

Communication
-----------------

I first contacted Integrity Concepts via PM regarding their 10" passenger side sub enclosure on June 3rd. I received a prompt response within a few hours that addressed all my questions/concerns and provided detailed costs for all options and shipping. Dan provided detailed answers and was a pleasure to work with. I placed an order the same day for an enclosure with a matte black grille and textured black trim ring. The ordering process is very detailed and they verify all aspects of your order to ensure you get exactly what you want.

Shipping Time
-----------------

The sub enclosure shipped on time as promised. It took a week to get to me from WA to NJ. I was emailed a tracking number once the enclosure shipped via UPS.

Unboxing
-----------------

The grille was wrapped in plastic and then installed in the enclosure. The entire enclosure was then wrapped in plastic and placed into a large box with packing peanuts. Considering the enclosure was shipped across the country, this was more than adequate to handle the rough handling one can expect.

There were some small punctures in the box, but the contents were undamaged. The plastic wrapping kept all the small pieces of foam off the enclosure as it would be a nightmare to have to pick all the pieces off.

Included in the box was my receipt, instructions, 10 black wood screws, and double sided 3M double loop tape.

Installation
-----------------

I installed a 10W6v3 into the enclosure. The sub dropped right in and there was ample internal wiring to hook everything up. To my surprise, they internal wiring is by Knukonceptz and is their nicer line of wiring. I get all my OFC wire from them so I was happy to see it being used in the enclosure as well.

The instructions recommend marking and then pre-drilling the mounting holes with a 1/8" or smaller drill bit. I attempted to mark the holes, but nothing I had was long and thin enough to do the job through the mounting holes. I chose to use a 7/64" drill bit and drill the holes with the sub in place. I would not recommend anyone else do that unless you have a steady hand and are sure that you won't slip and damage the sub. I drilled through the top layer of fiberglass, the MDF, and the bottom layer of fiberglass. I then installed the wood screws with a criss-cross pattern to ensure even seating of the sub to the mounting face of the enclosure. After that, all that was left to do was to pop the press-fit grill cover into place.

Mounting the enclosure into the car was relatively simple. I ended up trimming my rubber trunk mat. The mat that I have was originally for the Impreza 5-door. I bought it when there was no other available options back in 2012. I tried fitting it with the mat in place, but it wouldn't seat all the way. I had to bend the metal tab a little, but that step in mentioned in the directions. It was just a slight bend to get it to fit properly. I also decided to wrap a piece of electrical tape on the tab to provide some sort of protection to prevent any damage to the paint on the trunk lip. Once that was all done, it was as simple as connecting up the sub wiring, sliding the unit into place, and pushing the weatherstrip back over everything.

Impressions
-----------------

Overall, I am very pleased with this enclosure. This is my first "custom" enclosure and it sure as hell beats using an off-the-shelf ProWedge box. It fits the trunk perfectly, looks great, and still leaves me with some space to carry things. I also like that it's easy to remove should I need more space or need to gain access to the spare tire.

I fired up my system and put on some music with some heavy bass and was delighted with the performance of the sub and enclosure. I watched the sub to make sure that it would not hit the grill at full extension and there was more than enough room. This was the finishing touch that I needed to complete my sound system build.

Final Thoughts
-----------------

If you're looking for a sub enclosure that doesn't take up your entire trunk and provides excellent fit and performance, I would highly recommend this enclosure. Dan was awesome to work with and they have tons of customization options to choose from so that you can get exactly what you want. Every email/PM that I sent was answered within 24 hours. An excellent product with great customer service.

I also have the 10" box - the 5th one the made actually.

One tip for you - if you plan on doing a lot of spirited driving or AutoX and Track, and don't want to remove it, make sure to drill a hole in the top tab and the lip underneath the weather stripping - and insert a short screw to keep the tab locked in place. With the tab unable to move, the box will be locked in place.

I tried all kinds of things, but when I left it in while driving in a "fun" way, it would just slide right out of the weather stripping.

I just go back from a weekend of Road Course and AutoX, and it didn't budge at all.
