New microfiber towels from chemical guys
I have just taken what I consider to be a significant step forward in my microfiber world. I'm a total hacker/newbie and have been tinkering with my new scion fr-s since purchasing it in July. My skill level consists of two bucket washes w/grit gaurds, foam gun, clay, dp policoat sealant and collinite 845, 1Z Einszett Glass Cleaner glass cleaner, all by hand.
Until now I was using microfibers that I picked up on amazon. Zwipes microfiber cleaning cloths ~$20 for box of small cloths 3 different colors. I found some chemical guys gold 16 x 16 pack of 12 (mic 506_12) microfibers 70/30. What should I expect to notice in terms of difference in performance? Besides being lint free hopefully I'll post my impressions when I relieve the new microfibers. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Autogeek has a nice write up on microfiber towels:
http://www.autogeek.net/mfchart.html You want a towel with 20% polyamide / 80% polyester or better. Polyamide gives the towel a nice weighty, silky feel. This is the blend they use for Meguiar's Supreme Shine towel. They still lint a little bit, but not as much as a terry towel. A few shakes when you pull them out of the package will remove most of it. I've been using crap 100% polyester towels from target for awhile, switching back to these towels is a huge change. Big differences on microfibres cloths. Best come from Korea in all I've tried. Check out some of Junkmans posts here some real good info on such things.

The chemical guys yellow microfibers: 30% polyamide 70% polyester. The main reason I chose this product is because it's amazon prime eligible. Otherwise I might have bought cobra microfibers from autogeek.

Chemical Guys makes some good stuff. I use their Orange Banger and Sasquatch Maximus for ONR washes.
For future reference, at the Chemical Guys site when you buy in bulk you get significant savings, and they run pretty regular 25% off sales. You can get far better prices direct than from Amazon.

The 20% polyamide ones like the cobra microfiber are good too, they just feel a little bit tougher.

Try the MF towels from stay fresh. They start at 720 gsm for under $5 per towel. Decent size and they also offer their new monster towel which is bigger and is 850 gsm. They are super smooth and great for any detailing job. I've done a review on them and their other products, real good stuff.

You're 100% right, but those microfibers are thin and cheap in quailty. Not good for driying. Okay for removing wax and other dirty. But...you'll get maybe 6 washes before they crap out? Great for dirty jobs...but for detailing?
