Vinshu Tuning Open Flash Tablet

Purchased the OFT for my '13 Firestorm last Friday night after hours. Didn't get it until Wednesday since I purchased it over the weekend. Order was quick and painless and the shipment was speedy (2 day). Sales responded quickly with my questions regarding the order and provided me with feedback in a timely manner.

On to the product:

It's a simple, functional tablet. The plastic housing and screen may be the weak part though if you drop it on concrete it may break so be careful caring it around. Might I suggest a carrying case for it? It would reduce the possibility of damaging the tablet. But overall the product worked well and the interface was easy to read and understand. One gripe, on the diagnostics screen with all the real time data readings, it's kind of hard to hit the back button as I have chubby fingers lol. I just ended up turning it off completely to restart it. So maybe move the buttons around a bit or increase the area of the button and it will be fine. The two cables (USB for PC and OBDII port interface cable) are included as well as a window sticker which I can't find a place for because my windows come factory tinted and I can't see see it if I put it on the rear window or quarter panel window.

Uploading the tune was a painless 5 minutes and again instructions were very simple to follow. After a day of driving it on the Stage 1 tune waiting for the ecu to learn I decided to go a step further and adjust the launch control setting. Again it was easy to follow the steps given on the website to install and load definitions with Romraider to modify the settings accordingly. The OFT manager was easy to use but takes some time to read and write from the Tablet. This does give me time to get a cup of water or use the restroom as I wait.

With the Tune loaded and flashed to my ECU I gave it about a day and a half until if was running fully up to speed and the slop in the throttle was gone (first time I cheated with the gas pedal trick). When I purchased the OFT I was going to keep a conservative approach so I don't end up disappointed. At first I was skeptical about the tune being a night and day difference users were gushing about in reviews. Then after taking it out for a long hard drive I truly felt the difference between stock and stage 1. And to me the best thing about it is how drivable it is compared to stock. I normally drive and shift at 2200 rpm to 3000 rpm everyday and this is where it really shines for me. It definitely feels a lot peppier and torque delivery is much much better. It pulls all the way to 4k where you hear the timing change and the hp starts to climb. Above 4K between stock and stage 1, it felt just a tad better with the tune but what I really like is how it still feels peppy after driving for a long period of time where normally the car would heat soak and lose some power. I did a highway pull and 4th gear was by far my favorite. Pulls awesome there to its new 7600 rpm redline.

The Ultimate Test (for me anyways lol):

Flat roads, city roads, are not the best test of a tune. Before the tune taking it up mountain/hillside roads really pinned the weakness of the stock tune and the lack of torque. And for me, I love canyon roads and back roads with lots and lots of curves and turns. This is why I bought this car so I can enjoy driving it non-stop and believe me, If I had an endless budget I would drive all day with this car. Before the tune I thoroughly enjoyed the handling and stock suspension setup. Definitely much more forgiving than my S2000 but stiff enough to be on par. The ride felt planted and solid like my G35 coupe but much much more nimble and fun at the limit. The only thing I felt it lacked was torque on all uphill portions where I had to downshift all the time and ring it in the higher revs. And even doing so I still felt like it was missing a chunk of power somewhere. Really left me wanting more power. Now...Enter Stage 1 tune. If you ever felt like you didn't feel a difference in daily driving, this is where the new tune shines. Torque is much more usable from 2500 RPM and up on any hill. I actually like shifting before 4k when driving up a hill. There's a steady pull down low that's very reassuring and satisfying that wasn't there before and it does it smoothly. Kinda reminds me a little of my stock MR2 Turbo. Torque builds low and keeps you pulling ahead until horsepower takes over and keeps you moving. Throughout my drive the car felt so much more fun to drive and enjoy. Turns that I use to dread because the lack of engine response and torque were erased with a pleasurable feeling of "ooohhhh yeah!!" I will say this again, like a review I read before, this is how the stock car should have came! It really shines and the power is just right for enjoyable spirited canyon drives. Not too often did I think it needed more power because if it did (I.E. FI) the drive might be too scary on these kinds of roads. Nothing maybe a header and stage 2 tune wouldn't cure I think. But yeah this is definitely the best bang for the buck for me. It cures all the right issues it use to have on stock tune and for a stock car, it's really impressive to me.

Conclusion:

Too bad toyota/subaru didn't offer the car like this stock. Because now OFT and Vinshu Tuning can take my money for fixing some of their shortcomings lol. Looking forward to trying E85 and seeing what the juice can do. Easily the best bang for the buck and you get results. Easy and simple to install and modify for those looking to tune. It's like falling in love again

Hello all! I'm new to the forum and a proud owner of a 2015 Brz limited. Stumbled upon a Vishnu OpenFlash Tablet for Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ. Was curious, do any of you own or have used it?

Tons of people. Like, tons. You'll find a lot of info in the tuning subforum: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=88

I used it for a while. First I used a stage1 tune, which honestly I'm not sure if it made a noticeable difference. But when I got my catless header the OFT stage2 tune was a good, inexpensive option. I used it with both petrol and E85 tunes for probably around 25k miles with no issues.

I sold mine when I switched to an ECUtek tune.

I love reading reviews like this one. I just bought an OFT off someone locally and will be using one of the 93 UEL tunes once the shitty tuner puts the stock tune back on before I marry the device to my car.
