Help! New Fortune Auto 500's creaking right rear.
Hey guys, as the title states... I'm trying to track down and find the source of a mid-low pitched creak / squeak that I'm hearing.
It's the right rear of the car (or so it sounds like) and it only makes this noise under braking / deceleration while going over smaller bumps. It also sounds like the noise is made on the rebound stroke. I've went back through, double checked all of the bolts to ensure that they are tight, lubricated where necessary but it doesn't seem to help! Could this be the sway bar, top mount etc? It all seems to be tight and snug. Any input is appreciated, what else should I check? The suspension is all stock with the exception of the coilovers. Suspension gurus welcome! Sounds like a top hat bearing issue.

Yes I do, this is in the rear. Could the rear top hat be a bit loose? I was thinking it could be a sway bar bushing?

I have the same coilovers but haven't changed the sway bars so no noise coming from the rear..
Did you make sure you tighten the LCA bolts (assuming you removed it) and the bolts that connect the suspension piece? They bought need to be tightened to 59 ft/lbs IIRC

I have the stock sway, I've been searching like a mad man and thought that maybe since the car is lowered, somehow by changing the angle of the sway bar that it could have something to do with it. Hmm...

Ah for some reason I read that the fronts were squeling. Did you install it or did a shop do it?

Did you torque down the lca to damper bolt with the car on the ground, or still in the air?

While it was still in the air, do you think that might be the cause?

Help! New Fortune Auto 500's creaking right rear.
Update: Just took the passenger rear damper off, double checked everything, greased everything and reassembled. Still creaking. Though, when I stiffen the damper, the creaks lessen. Dammit.

I don't want to say these coilovers are low quality because I dont know anything about them but
I had megan coils on my last car. and brand new they creaked like a mother on certain road imperfections and speed bumps. At speed on the highway they were quiet. I did everything you could think of to try and find the answer but I never did. My research lead me to the answer that it is spring slap/bind. That made sense because looking at the springs where the coils tapered at top and bottom mounts there were rust spots I guess where they were hitting/binding. Megan was no help they told me to uninstall and send them in for analysis. IMO it is part of the game. If you don't have helper springs I'd imagine this could be a normal occurrence with any linear spring. But I'm no expert so take my commentary for what it is.
