Overpipe rattle

I hope this is the right place to post this... I'm buying a turbo set up and I first need to purchase an overpipe. I've read of some finding a rattling noise after installing an aftermarket overpipe. I'd really like to go 3" to match mid-pipe and catback that I already have. Thoughts?

Yes I agree on the stiffer motor mounts, my custom over pipe would rattle too after a while of driving, mainly on turns or steep inclines. It seems that the stock overpipe comes with a heatsheild for a reason. Stiffer mounts on an FI set up is a must. Idk which ones to go with myself, I do know not to go with energy suspension, I believe it was in the FBM that there was a pic of a melted one.

3" is hard to do but not impossible. Clearance is very tight in there. I had a rattling exhaust once so I cut some hose and wedged it in between the pipe and body to shut it up.

My Invidia 60mm pipe had to be cut, extended and rotated to mate my down pipe to my front pipe.

Does anyone with a stock OP and aftermarket exhaust setup have any rattles?

I think my final exhaust setup will keep the stock OP, while everything else gets replaced. It will probably slightly affect tone, and that crushed section of the OP might affect tone and power very very slightly. But I don't want any rubbing or rattling. Seems like aftermarket OP is almost always the source of rattles.

Hopefully this bump gets enough attention.

Hello, I have just installed the invida overpipe yesterday but the bottom of it hits or bangs with the lower arm when the engine vibrates and it sound really bad (because of the metal banging). Any suggestion? My mechanic told me that i have 2 options: one is to oull out the overpipe and make dent in the bottom part if the over pipe and the second thing is to cut the overpipe and try ti switch positio. What did u do? What do u recommend? Is an option to re-align the exhaust? How to do it? Thanks

I basically couldn't mate my front pipe to my over pipe and it interfered with my head. It was against the motor, so we cut it, extended it and rotated the flange so that way it mated up.

I called Invidia and they wanted to help, but I needed my car back and I figured paying another $100 to make the necessary adjustments was worth it to me. If I were you and it wasn't that big of an issue, I would send it back and see if the replacement fits any better.

I got tired of waiting. Only 2.5 inch is offered right now by motive or avo. Motive offers a ceramic coated version for less then Avo.

Went with the Jdl 3 inch. I would highly recommend stiffer mounts, and shielding around the mounts and sway bar bushing, my custom 2.5 inch got hot enough to start melting my sway bar bushing. Ceramic coating is ideal. Good luck. Haven't installed the OP yet as im waiting for sti or trd motor mounts, anyone got a set for sale? Lol.
