Wax on New Paint

So I recently got hit by some asshat that ran a red light. I've put these pictures up elsewhere in the forum, but I have a point I'm getting to so here they are for the sake of being detailed.

So anyways, they ended up completely replacing the rear fender. Here's a picture after 3 weeks of waiting.

As you can see, quite a few imperfections. The guys that did it told me to wait 90 days before applying any sort of wax. Is that normal for having new parts/paint? What would be a good way to clean and protect the paint until then? I just picked up a clay bar but I don't even know if I should be using that on the new paint..

Just be patient and let the new paint fully cure before you start doing anything to it. People go years w/o even washing their cars, and those cars can detail out just fine. Waiting 90 days won't do anything.

Holy holograms... Your car is in need of a serious paint correction, bro. Did the shop put those swirls on the car?

Yeah, they did. I actually took it to them and complained, they told me it'd be an hour long wait, it was dark by the time they finished so I went home. Next day, I looked and nothing's different. Would it cost me much to go somewhere else and get that fixed?

I want to make some things clear because i'm seeing alot more clay bar questions! First and foremost you need to only clay the car once a year or in the specific area you are correcting. Push your clay bar about 6-12 inches out of the correcting area so you are not picking up contamination when you start your pass. Also keep in mind when you clay you may notice super light marring... this will be corrected once you do your pass. so dont freak out when your using a clay bar.... ALSO always reshape the clay to reveal a clean surface often.
