AEM Fail Safe using Rear O2, Anyone done this?
I found some information showing people were running the AEM directly to the PCM as there may or may not be an open port. But I had a different question, how about just using the Rear O2 Connector?
I am looking for a pin out now but it should have a signal, ground and power going to it correct? Granted it is on the front of the motor but it would make a plug and play setup. I kept going back an forth on where to post this but felt most FI guy's would be the best to ask. So have any of you done this before? I am not seeing anything on this method of trying to do it. Thanks!

Forum and Google Search brought me to other installs not using that point so it's good to know someone else is already doing it. That was exactly what I needed to know. Now to go put it in.

i'm using it, works great.
You only need one wire on the O2 sensor harness (blue if i recall). I've got another connector here that i'm thinking about using and wiring in for a cleaner more plug and play install. However it is my understanding that the other wires in that harness must remain connected to the stock rear o2 or it will throw a code about something with the o2 heater circuit. I'm not sure whether or not those specific codes can be disabled, but if they can I would be happy to make my harness and take pics for those of you that are interested. |

I was hoping I could just plug in power an ground to the factory Rear O2 Harness and go from there without any CEL's so unless I misunderstood @moto-mike I believe that is exactly what you can do. I should know shortly, I am working on installing it now.

if you tap into the wire at the pcm you can run the ground over there too. I found a good solid ground behind the kick panel next to it.
On another note im not sure if it can be turned off with ecutek but if you unplug the rear o2 sensor it will throw a code for the o2 heater circuit no longer being connected. |

No need for the other wires to be connected, those cels have to be disabled anyway.

So I just ordered the AEM fail safe A/F and I'm curious where some of the other members have mounted them in their interior?? I already have the p3cars gauge in my vent so that option won't work. Any help, maybe even pictures would be great. Thanks guys

I mounted mine in the factory gauge cluster between the radio and fuel/temp gauges.
On another note so the wide band is reading but whatever EcuTek is getting it's way off and now the car is really pissed off. It tries to die on initial throttle input from a stop, runs 13.8 - 14.3 while cruising and hesitates all the time now. I have been staying out of it but here I sit in a parking lot trying to contact the rubber because this was supposed to be fixed...it's like the wideband is effecting the fuel terms when my understanding is all it was supposed to do is log. The gauge it self at idle says 14.6-7 EcuTek says 20-21. Sent from Spaceball 1

Alright reconnected it with the signal wire cut and it's doing fine so far. Going to do further testing now.
