Looking for help with vac lines on turbo
Hey everybody, I've spent the winter preparing my car for racing this season. I've got everything setup except my vac lines.
I am being told about 5 different things from 5 different people so I am completely confused. If anybody could help me sort this out that would be awesome. Il start by listing my build, it's a fa20club turbo kit, I am using a garrett gt3071r, also using a turbosmart 50mm blow off valve and a turbosmart race port external wastegate. I am also running AEM water/meth which runs off of a boost pressure source. I also have tapped a vaccume box into my brake booster line so I can source multiple things to it and keep it clean. From what I've been reading this is how I am supposed to be setting up my vac lines, but I have been told too many different things now and I don't know what to believe. What I've read: Blow off valve - total of 2 ports, both top. Block 1 of those 2 ports and insert nipple in the other. Run a vac line from that nipple to 1 of the ports on my vaccume box. External wastegate - total of 4 ports, 2 top and 2 bottom. Block 1 top and 1 bottom, insert 1 nipple into top and 1 nipple into bottom. Leave top nipple vent to atmosphere, run vac line from bottom nipple to vaccume box. Insert manual boost controller in the center of this line. (Biggest confusion of them all, I was under the impression that I MUST drill and tap my compressor housing on turbo, insert barb fitting and run the vac line to that instead of the vaccume box but everyone's telling me something different). AEM water/meth boost source - (another bunch of confusion) Run the vac line from the AEM water/meth controller to the vaccume box. If anybody has input on all of this that would be extremely helpful. I want to make sure I ask questions and do everything properly as this is my first turbo build on an n/a car. Thanks very much.

BOV correct, cap 1 port, insert nipple into other one and rout to vacuum block. External WG everything seems correct, and while you can run the vacuum source to the block, I recommend drilling the turbo. It's better the fastest/closest source of vacuum then having to run a line all the way back there.

The AEM kit boost source is probably the least important and it will be fine coming from the vacuum manifold.

Have you contacted your tuner yet? They may prefer a different boost control strategy, or location of the boost source.

Hey, yes I ran the manual boost controller by my tuner and he seemed perfectly okay with it. Eventually il be going to electronic, just need it going for the first couple races this season. Thanks!
