Man, as a photographer myself, it is REALLY bothering me that alot of the shots dont have your car in focus as much as it should be. But then again, the quality of the photo could have diminished from the upload.

Regardless, nice car man!

Wow...

I agree that the car not being the main focal point is a bit strange for car photography, but these pictures themselves look absolutely fantastic!

I have no idea. I'm not the photographer. But shutterlit is pretty well known automotive photography.

It's weird cuz there's too much photochopping going on hence the car no longer becomes the focus.

Here's an example of how a real pro does automotive photography before the age of Photoshop:

I found the problem. I don't think the photshopping has much to do with it, and if they really know their stuff they are probably shooting in .RAW anyways.

The root of the problem is that the photos were uploaded onto FB. If the source of the photos had come from Flickr or another image hosting website that DOESN'T degrade the quality upon upload, it would be a much different story.

Yeah, if you go through Stephen's portfolio, you can see he has some great automotive photography skills. Been half following his stuff since he was active on the Toronto Subaru Club forum. Some nice shots there!

Facebook small:

Facebook large:

The small version of Facebook images are brutal quality. The bigger / higher resolution ones are much better, but still not the same as Flickr. That said, Flickr artificially sharpens images a bit too if you compare before/after uploading.

one trick i did with facebook is that i would downsample them myself using Photoshop for optimal detail retention before uploading, this was ever before FB had size options

the results were much better

No that's the right link. That dude did all of Honda car photography for their marketing literature for 35 years, that link is a library of it.

very nice photos.

Glad to see it was degraded upload quality not poor shooting.

that is one of my biggest peevs. Nothing worse than someone calling their selves a pro photog and not one photo they have is tack sharp (and they shoot in Auto)
