Borla Vs TRD, which do you prefer?
I haven't convinced myself to swap out the muffler assembly on this car, I don't overly dislike the sound of the stock. However, should I convince myself to do which sounds better for the money?

Of those 2 options, TRD, from what I understand Birla quality is pretty shoddy so TRD is the way to go between the two. Have you already narrowed those down from the rest of the options out there?

Lachute Performance. Wait, what do you mean it's not a choice?
But of the two choices: TRD |

A fellow New-Brunswicker . I got a TRD and it sounds great I find. It is a pretty expensive cat back though, and many other brands are cheaper and have good sound too. All depends on the tone you want. I youtubed for days listening to different setups, and to me, the TRD sounded the best, and I don`t regret getting it one bit.

As a previous owner of a Borla FP/OP and seeing the quality of their work.. TRD if you must put the criteria down to two choices.

Thanks guys. Kevman that's just it I don't mind the sound of it the way it, she's tried conviincing me a few times to get the TRD exhaust, I just not sure I want to listen it for 10-13 hours at a time on our jaunts to Montreal a few times a year.

It really isn't that bad on long trips as you might imagine. Doing "roughly" speed limit on the highway puts your car (if it's a manual) around 3000 rpm's or so. At that point, if you set your car to cruise or maintain those rpm's, the exhaust is dead silent. It only starts to make noise again if your rpm's go up or down from there. I know because I do highway driving every once in a while and experience this with my TRD exhaust.

I went to Quebec city with my girl and she didn`t complain once. She likes the sound. Only time it gets slightly loud is when passing and going uphill.

You'll be fine on a long drive with TRD from what I've heard out of the exhaust. I run a perrin 3" resonated CBE (much louder than TRD). Drove over 900KM last weekend and was fine - first few hours no issue, last few hours a bit of fatigue. Oh, and my significant other was in the car with me and didn't complain (much).
As mentioned above, cruising isn't an issue - only high load when throttling (not necessarily fast climbing RPM but just high load - think pounding down on pedal in 6th at moderately low RPMS) or coasting in gear also produces some drone.

I have the trd intake and the borla cat back. The borla sound is deep but subtle, nothing too loud but enough to know it's there. I went with borla because it was cheaper than trd but I have no complaints. No drone after 3k miles

As already mentioned, I haven't heard good things about Borla quality. However, I think this combination sounds great! |
