Supercharger vs. Turbo, please advise

I have a 2014 limited BRZ that has an automatic transmission.

First of all, I was wondering if the superchargers/turbos are compatible and/or work the same with the automatic transmission? Because I realize most people buying these kits own the manual version. I actually wanted the manual originally but I'm 6'6" tall and my hands would hit my legs when coming off the clutch while turning and it created a dangerous situation. It all worked out for the best though, I spend quite a lot of time in stop-and-go traffic.

My other question would be supercharger vs. turbo in general. Which one is better for improving my 0-60 time? I honestly don't care much at all about top speed, I just really want to get the best 0-60 possible. I also don't want to install something that would damage the car in the long-term, I would like the life of the car to be at least 80,000 miles.

I'm kind of a noob with this car modification stuff so I really appreciate any useful answers and advice. Thanks in advance!

I have an AT and went with a Vortech supercharger. No problems yet. Driving it daily and track it a lot too.

Thanks! I read the thread in your signature, very cool. So you were saying the wheels spin in place if you're not careful with the throttle? How touchy is it?

Also, have you timed your 0-60 with the vortech now?

I haven't timed the 0-60. Sorry. When I say the wheels spin in place is when coming from a slow turn, and you suddenly apply a lot of throttle, you will get a lot of wheelspin due to the added power. That is if your TC (traction control) is turned off. I usually do not turn off TC on the street, but on the track I do. It's not that touchy, but you have to get used to the added power. The AT is also tail happy enough in stock form, the supercharger only enhances it.

If you just want a better 0 to 60, nitrous and some light weight wheels with drag radials might be the best solution.

this is what I would do for 1/4 mile 0-60 build:
Turbo kit with proper supporting mods (if you need to ask, you should consult your tuner first)
Water-air IC. You can put ice in it for increased cooling IAT's for short amount of time.
rear axle upgrade or weld the diff higher or else you will pop it with harsh take off's, assuming you are lowered.
sticky tires
AT transmission upgrade - by SSP, valve body stage 2 (will shift harder), higher stall TQ converter (You can launch better), transmission cooler (Any brand will do)
small wheels for meaty tires

This will be a drag monster, but shitty for DD/cornering.

QFT.

How many owners have tried superchargers, ripped them off, and gone turbo? Quite a few. (I'm one of them)

No one has had a turbo, and then put a supercharger on, AFAIK.

So, just based on that, you have your answer.

Linear characteristics of a supercharger, twin screw whine, CARB and maintenance these are some reasons for getting a supercharger over a turbo.

More headroom, the feel of the power surge when turbos kick in, turbo spool & blow off valve sound are some reasons to go with a turbo.
