Need help please.
hey guys
i decided to paint my rims with a spray gun and compressor. I prepped my wheels properly and painted them 2 days ago with 3 coats of base and 2 coats of clear with a hardener. Not sure exactly the type of paint, i bought it at a local automotive paint shop. the problem im having is that after the 2 days ive had them drying in my garage (since i dont want any particles landing on the drying paint) i touched them this morning and they still feel slightly sticky.. my question is how long does the paint need to dry for if curing in a garage thats not in direct sunlight? Please any information on this subject would be extremely helpful. Thanks ikko |

Depends on type of paint, how thick/thin the layers are, the time between coats, temperature and humidity during curing, etc.

Well it's not an water based paint cause I was told to use lacquer thinner to clean out the gun between base and clear. The coats were light to medium coats and it was probably somewhere around 85 degrees when painting.. And I live in miami, fl so it's always high humidity. I think that the humidity in my garage is preventing the paint from curing at a faster rate. But I'm scared to put them out in the sun cause I live in a development that's still under construction. Lots of sand everywhere...
