Koyo radiator mystery port
To those with Koyo radiators... Is the port on the driver side of the radiator a 1/8 PT port? I asked this over at the rallysportdirect website and they confirmed that it is indeed 1/8 PT. But when I tried comparing the size of this port on my Koyo radiator to the stock oil pressure and temp sensors, it seems smaller. Has anyone successfully tapped a water temp sensor to this spot?
Here it is on the upper left Last edited by HRTROB; 04-15-2014 at 06:05 PM. |

interesting. I have the same radiator sitting in my garage and will soon be installed on my car.
How hard was the install? Anything worth mentioning about the install?

On a NA car, it should be a breeze to install once the bumper is off. The drain cock on my Koyo wasn't tight, so make sure you check that out. I was also able to install it without jacking up the car or removing the metal skid plate under the engine. The drain cock on the stock radiator will be accessible with the bumper off. Let us know if you can take a peek at that port and confirm that it is 1/8 PT. I've already spent a good amount of time bleeding the system, so I'm hesitant to remove the port and check

I plan to install the radiator with Kraftwerks kit and clamp hoses to prevent boost leaks (under the intake manifold) since I will need to remove the bumper for the KW kit anyways I figured it'd be time saving that way. Thanks again for all the useful hints

1/8 NPT would be the logical size

I doubt it's 1/8 NPT because all the other Koyo radiators with water temp sensor ports use 1/8 PT.
Koyo's website doesn't list this radiator as having a 1/8 PT port. Maybe because it's a running change? The earlier ones don't have this port. |

First of all, I don't think the above picture is FRS/BRZ specific radiator but it's just a generic photo since the placements of those bolts are different. and Secondly, those are not ports just the tabs since the OEM unit has unique tab that can go over the hanger/attachment part of the body, aftermarket radiator include adjustable length bolts so that you can hang the radiator.. Take a closer look and you will notice that the thread is just empty ![]()

![]() I've been looking at the port and I don't think it's empty. The fact that it is plugged by an allen grub screw wrapped it teflon tape, tells me that there is indeed a hole in there ![]() Garagefrs' koyo radiator install... No port on the left side

I have noticed that I have the same port on the upper left side. Obviously, I didn't pay attention to that when I first looked at it but rather looking at the tabs, oh well..so far no leaking issue and whatnot
