Smile This is what allowed me to upgrade to the BRZ

This is also why I'm getting involved in auto-sports to become a better driver and be able to swerve with confidence and not flip my car!

What happened was a 16 year old girl driving a Jeep Cherokee did a "California stop" and pulled out quickly in front of my '04 RSX-S where she had a stop sign and I had no stop sign. I braked as fast as I could, it activated the ABS but I still couldn't stop in time (I was already at the intersection and NOT speeding). The road I was on was only 2 lanes with no shoulders and high curbs, so it wouldn't have been easy (for me at least) to swerve. My car couldn't drive away from this one, but the Cherokee was still driveable. My airbags deployed, the RSX was totaled, and my right foot is still injured to this day (presumably from being on the brake pedal during impact). The poor RSX only had 61k miles on her. This happened in January this year (2014). I had full coverage insurance so everything turned out better for me because I have a BRZ now!

And now...

hope your foot heals properly.
that's why I always expect other drivers to screw up.
- change lanes without signaling.
- blow red lights
- turn into traffic without looking (leaving a parking spot)
- etc.

You're right, they are identical in ways. They got about the same horsepower and curb weight. I had a used '04 RSX-S so I don't know what every mod it had, but the suspension and handling is definitely better on the BRZ (obviously the RWD plays a role here). But the cars are pretty identical in a straight line. Furthermore, the BRZ has better low end torque and a higher peak torque by about 20lbft. Not to say it makes it any faster, but it seems that the BRZ revs at lower RPMs with more power.

The main difference between the RSX and BRZ is the lifestyle and some features. RSX has much larger room for passengers in rear and a hatch. I really miss the hatch but the BRZ still has a reasonable amount of room with the rear seats down (compare it's cargo space to a MX5 or s2000!). The FWD is better for snowy days than RWD (this is speculation, the BRZ has a LSD and trac control so it is probably fine in the snow). Oh and don't forget the V-TEC! And the cars' gearboxes feel a lot different, but maybe that's because I'm using a brand new gearbox and not one that's a decade old.

Sorry for the rant! I got caught up in comparing the cars. I should just make a thread in the BRZ versus ____ forum if someone hasn't yet

Yeah I wad depressed about it for a while but I got over it. People make mistakes and you gotta forgive them. I was a 16 year old driver once too. And you could argue that it's my fault that I didn't slow down enough for some one else's yielding (that could make people mad though, like "drive out of the way already so I can cross the street!"). I did see her car and I was preparing to stop, but I saw her slow down at her stop sign so I decided to maintain my speed. That was a mistake. The weird thing is that it was night time and I have really bright headlights that were on (silverstone 4000k or sometime like that), but she said she didn't see me

In some places 16 YO's can't drive at night, or need a licensed driver with them. Who was she texting when she pulled out in front of you?
