Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 vs Michelin Pilot Super sport

does anyone have any experience with the Goodyear Eagle Asymmetric 2? treadwear, gas mileage, grip?

I feel like the Michelin's are a solid purchase, but the Goodyear Eagles are about 300 dollars cheaper.

I run these in 245 on my 17x8 RPF1 on the street. Cannot compare to Michelin PSS cause I never used them. They're pretty decent for the street, but inadequate for any sort of track usage. Not horrible, but not that great. Good for the money tho.

Don't know if you've seen what's on Tire Rack, but perhaps their head-to-head test results will be of use to you: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/...y.jsp?ttid=162

They also have a summary of consumer survey results for Max Performance summer tires: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/survey...ay.jsp?type=MP

I just mentioned in another thread, I landed a set of these for $150, very lightly used, in 235/40 18". They're OEM for the Focus ST, so you can find them lightly used for a great deal when the Focus ST guys want to upgrade to a track grade tire. They're not as good as the PSS, but they're not far off - they're pretty good tires for the money.

Yeah thanks, I've seen the video but I guess I wanted member feedback specific to our cars. I'm just thinking this is a good option to save some money with.

I had a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetrics on my Cayman R, and I had no issues with them. I don't think they beat the MPSS in any of the categories you listed though. I love my MPSSs though, and I would pay the difference.

The Michelins have a 30k mile treadwear warranty if you run a square setup, this speaks to how confident Michelin is in this tire's ability to last longer than any other max performance summer tire. Simply put, if you want the best, you get Pilot Super Sports.

:shifty:

I'm gonna have a hard time resisting getting different wheels and PSS for this car, it's been a long time since I've had something with such reasonably priced options.

I currently have the Goodyear F1 Asy 2 in 225/40/18, but personally can't compare them to MPSS. I got a great deal on them from tire rack too ($~104/ tire I think). All I can compare them to are the OEM tires and a crappy set of used tires I had before the good years. Sticks well around corners - almost takes away the fun... But a lot fun while canyon carving.

I have a set of asy 2 for street and some autocross 225/45/17. Not the fastest tire but communicates well at the limit. My other set that is almost worn out is my mpss which better performance and they are pretty good in the wet.

I have yet to try either, though I will probably be going for PSS when the time comes, but on Tire Rack the PSS is only $140 more than the ASY2 not $300. Just incase that helps you decide.
