Tire suggestion...245/35/18 with good grip and 20k
So, I have 18x9's and I want to run a 245/35/18 tire to keep gearing close to stock.
I love a good sticky tire like nt01, nt05, rs3, z2 etc but I daily the car and need to get 20k or close to it out of my tires. I also like to drive hard in canyons, autox and the occasional track day, and I don't have the budget for separate wheels/tires...so, what do you recommend? I want to avoid the evo v12, and there are too many love/hate reviews(some people love and swear by it, but I've also read plenty of reviews saying the sidewall is soft and I've seen more than one person say they want to just get different tires after having them just a short time)-and I know the evo2 just came out, but there isn't much info about the second version of evo v12, so I don't know if I want to jump onto that ship. Right now, I'm thinking about: Bridgestone potenza S04 Michelin pilot sport-although, the price is pretty high-I don't know if I want to spend that much Bf Goodrich t/a kdw 2-might not hit the 20k mark, but I liked them when I had it before I don't care about winter/wet traction as I have an SUV, so if we happen to get rain, ill take that. Anything else I'm missing? |

I got some potenza s04 for my car in that size. Just one note about them, they are HEAVY compared to other tires in the same class. Not sure why? Didn't pay close attention to weight but when I got my wheels and tires and weighed them I cried a little.
Other than that I can't comment too much on performance yet, cold winter in New England and haven't pushed them much yet. Tire track also recommended some Conti dw, dws or something like that for the money. They are lighter if you care. |
