MY15 86

Hi, I got an email from my dealer saying that he has swapped my MY14 to MY15 which is ok. I will end up getting the car in July and just wanted to know what the difference is between the older and newer ones? any response helps. Thanks

GT or GTS ? I've heard something about the GT getting a digital speedo & GTS getting more fruit like a sharkfin. Have not taken much notice since it's virtually identical to the car they released on the 18th June 2012 :/ The moment they bring in a car with a lot more HP & bigger wheels etc is when I start taking an interest to it all.

Jealous of this.
We don't have any of that in North America!

Agree 100%. The car is now entering it's 3rd year and needs more than just a few gimmicks. The fitting of FI or increasing to a 2.5 should have been done after the first version was found lacking in power, along with controls in the steering wheel, 18" wheels and an exhaust that at least sounds like the car looks. Even these things on the option list would be nice.

I get the feeling Subota have lost interest in the car and it won't last more than a couple more years. Unlike the MX5. Just hope they become as sought after and admired as the Honda s2000.

I hope it DOESN'T get 18in wheels or steering wheel controls :-/
Toyota don't believe the car is "lacking in power". And neither do I. Not a great deal anyway. Whether it lacks power is VERY subjective....
The car wasn't built for drag/highway/traffic light driving and it can beat much more powerful cars over tight mountain roads

Yeah, this intrigues me a lot. People say the car is lacking power. I think this weird because it is an inanimate object; it doesn't need anything where as some people want more power which is understandable even though I am not one of them.

I'm a P plater anyway, This has more power than i need. I drive my dads ss ute every weekend. I love the power but its unnecessary for a 17 year old.

I would like a little more, but not a lot more. This not the fastest (accelerating) car I have owned, but the best handling, which is why I bought it.
Not to mention it is hell sexy haha

I think the car is fine in HP as it is, what I'm saying is I wouldn't say no to more HP. Anyhow, I get most of my kicks in the form of "G" force from the car's dynamic ability

The car has 'just' the sufficient power needed to do the job. The car is now entering its 3rd version with apart from a spoiler most people don't want, a revering camera and a fin instead of a pointy antenna for the radio nothing new.

Thats not a lot to encourage new buyers to buy new or current owners to upgrade. The car is crying out for FI and Subota are experts at it. I still think that after 2016 the car will be discontinued and replaced by a new Celica and a new WRX. European sales were never that great and it was the US and Oz that were the biggest buyers. Here there are less coming in because of a drop in sales and the US are fair.

If the US Scion FRS starts to plateau the 86 will go the way of the dinosaur.

The poor economy has hit Europe fairly hard & most people there simply can't afford one ! A sports car is a luxury, a simple Clio is part luxury & part necessity for many & most people there own cars like it. Toyota usually revamp their cars every 4 years with something new so don't expect anything till 2016 ! Subaru love to update theirs every year with god knows what, Toyota has a midlife facelift every 2.

The new WRX is typically pathetic as far as design is concerned, it once again proves that Subaru have NO idea about car design. If not for Toyota the 86 would not look the way it does & simply not exist even. I wish the car well, I for one would be keen to update every now & then to a new model cos I love sports cars.

They've sold 100,000 in two years (not including BRZ's). I don't think production is going to end any time soon.

And to everyone crying out for more HP, bigger wheels etc. You can't have those things and still be the best bang for your buck sports car on the market. Toyota left the door open for the aftermarket, which has supplied plenty of reliable power options for those who think it needs for.
"Lack of power" cant be an excuse for people not buying them anymore. Buy one at the low price they are, put the mods you want on it. I guarantee you'll have more money leftover than you would if toyota brought out a model with all of those things you're crying for and you bought it.
