40 Or 300+?

I know most argue that purchasing an intake system is not worth the money and therefore an equal??? alternative is to simply upgrade an OEM filter. I've never just upgraded the filter and opted for the intake tube and filter (short).

My question to you all ( based from your experiences ) is, "will a drop in performance filter give me that throaty throttle sound and response I achieved with my, for example Enjen intake?" (previously installed on my '98 S14) Thanks in advance, my friends.

no, you will get increased induction sound but it will not be vastly changed.

you could spend less money, bet TRD sound changers and a after market filter. Better sound, same performance gains as a intake - not f*** up your AFR's

If you want a throaty sound you can remove the resonators throughout the intake. That plus a drop in filter should give you the noise you want.

you will get the extra 3-5whp the filter and straight intake pipe give you (so the same as a CAI but cheaper!)

This. There really aren't any intakes out (yet) that outperform a filter, silicone tube and modified or replaced snorkel.

There is some evedence that the ECU doesn't like you removing the biggest resonator (the one just infront of the filter) but it will sound best with them removed.

Filter + Hose/Inlet Tube

Unless you are planning to get a tune then maybe a new intake system?

Legit tune will not benefit the intake though, it will just allow it to run without risking your engine
