How to clean a dirty catback exhaust? - Toyota GR86, 86, FR-S and Subaru BRZ Forum & Owners Community

Just purchase this used catback exhaust from a member. Thank you @llcoolchris77

I want to clean it really good before I putting that on. Was wondering if I can get some advice on how to clean it.

You can get a scrub pad to wipe it down, that usually helps. You can't really fix discoloration from heat though.

Any stainless steal polish with a scrubber would work fine!

Thanks. Yeah, just want to clean it good. Is there any solution I should use with a scrub pad?

Discoloration is normal for all exhaust, right? Not worried about that much.

Ahh never used stainless steal polish. Will pick one up!

Steel wool or a scotch bright sponge will help out the process. Just don't use them on the tips for the tips some polish and a microfiber will be good.

Yeah just use care and common sense when doing it. You don't want to leave any chemicals on the exhaust so give it a good wipe down with a clean rag. Discoloration is no big deal at all, even if you could get it off, it'd come right back anyway.

I use some of the Mother's metal polish on the Cusco bars to polish them up some. Seems to work alright, but there's probably even better polish to use. I may use it on my Invidia exhaust before a car show.

If you use steel wool, use OOOO which is super fine.
