Crappy factory tires
So for the first time in my life and I have been driving 15 years I got a flat tire so my question tire ideas brand and size, I am keeping the factory rims, can I go wider tires on the factory rims? Thanks for the responses,
Ps. Not in the mood for a "use the search button, or it's already been talked about responses" I'm using my smart phone with limited internet capabilities |

I just put 225/45 Kumho ASX tires on mine. They seem to be quieter than the stock tires, but that may be because they're new. But 225's fit fine on 7" rims, and it only throw the speedo off by 1-2 MPH.

Check reviews/tests at tirerack.com, thats what I did. Narrow down what kind of tire you need, check the specs and choose the brand that meets your performance/price point.

What are your wants, needs, and usage conditions? Best tire choice will depend heavily on:
if there's a chance you might end up driving in cold/snow/ice conditions rain conditions including standing water track or autoX usage (and whether tenths of a second are important there) price a factor? longevity a factor? Picking the right tire for your wants/needs/usage is infinitely more important than whether you get stock-size 215/45-17 or slightly bigger 225/45-17s (IMO your only size options on the stock wheels). |

Another thing to keep in mind is that the stock tires are actually very narrow for a 215. My 205/50/17 snows are actually wider than the stock tires, and my 225/45/17 ZII's are easily more than an inch wider than the stock tires.

If you are calling them crappy because you got a flat, that is just bad luck not the tires fault.
I have been driving 10 years and when I drove a honda accord I got slammed by a drunk driver, should I switch cars? What do you want out of the tire that the stock one isn't giving you. Maybe your best bet is a run flat or a solid rubber tire since the only info you have given us is that you got a flat and now hate stock tire... |
