Keeping track of mods, plans

How do you guys keep track of mods, planned mods, etc on your cars? Spreadsheet? Word doc? Or is there a good app out there for something like that?

I bookmark anything I think I might want. Occasionally look through my bookmarks to remind myself. Not very efficient but then I'd be broke if I did it in a more organized way ^_^

i fee like if there was a mod that you could forget about, its not that important. it just seems like modding should be a problem followed by a solution. if my car needed something, i would be reminded every time i drove it

i always have a rough idea of what i'd like to do to the car, and then as i'm walking through stores/surfing sites, will pick up parts to get to that end goal, whenever i'm at that store, or ordering from that site...

i try to never keep track of exactly how much i spend on modding, because the dollar figure would make me cry.

It's best not to put that shit in writing. When the g/f or wife find out how much you aren't spending on her, you may find out what kind of relationship you're really in.

I think there are some things that I think I might be interested in taking on in the future (like 6 months from now when my wife takes the kids to see her parents for a couple weeks, and I have more time and a spare vehicle). At that point (or a few weeks earlier), it would be good to have options documented.

I tend not to plan too far in advance. Every once and a while I'll see something I think I want/need and I'll research that until I either buy it or decide not to.

Spending all your money on thousands of dollars worth of mods gets a lot harder later in life when you have a mortgage and wife and bills etc.

I write a journal on my modifications, a desired parts list to check off, and a detailed process of installation with all the little notes on what parts i had trouble with, or whatever i find to be pertinent information for the procedure.

Its good to keep a hard copy of everything you have done in detail to reflect on it later. even if it is just chicken scratch or some hyroglyphic only you can read.

I made a spreadsheet of all the mods I planned to do around the class I race in, the price of them and then what I actually spent if it be a hookup or I got it used. Goal is to see the total saved number as high as I can haha.
