DDM HID's
I finally received my DDM HID kit in yesterday. Shipping came direct from china and took over two weeks. My inquiries as to where my package wa and why it was taking so long went entirely unanswered. Although I knew the products they offer are chinese made, i still expect better customer service and shipping time then I have gotten. I would highly advise NOT using DDM for anything and I probably have the most experience with them out of anyone here...
As a bit of history, I have purchased numerous items from them over the course of a few years. It started with a shifter knob and e brake handle kit for my e36. no problem and shipping was decent. I purchased projector HID's for the same car and it took forever with no responses. They offered coil overs for the e36 as well, and let me tell you, that was garbage. The customer service I recieved while trying to deal with it was absolutely terrible as well. All of this was over the course of a few years. I even tried to order a set of new rotors and brake lines for another e36 just before I bought my frs. Same deal, except after two weeks when they finally returned my emails I found out that the product was not in stock and wouldn't be delivered for a month... I know, am a glutton for punishment trying them over and over again. i always believe that people have to get better over the course of time, but it truly isn't the case. They offer cheap products, but there are other vendors who will offer the same chinese knockoff garbage at the same prices with much better service., so just an FYI. The HID's look good however, lol. |

It wouldn't surprise me if mine went as well. You get what you pay for. The only reason I even buy some chinese garbage is because these are the types of things hat aren't made in the U.S. anyways...But seriously, buy elsewhere.

I wouldn't even purchase any parts other than HIDs from DDM. Some may say they're good, but it's all same Chinese made products. I recently purchased their 4500k hid, but their bulbs look way more of 6000k. It works, but not the color I expected for 4500k.

The 5000k hide I got seem more like 6k or greater as well...very blue. I had 6k HID's form them on my e36 and they looked much whiter.

So as a result, I bought the Morimoto 3Five 4300k and it is exactly what I was looking for. OEM light output. |

I went for a drive at night yesterday for the first time since install and guess what...my stock halogens are brighter....The lights are REALLY blue and the light output really sucks. Does this sound like something is wrong? Would it be ballasts or bulbs?
I am going to email DDM and try and get a replacement, but being that they haven't returned my original two emails, I am not going to hold my breath... Will other brand bulbs work with their ballasts? |

Other bulbs will work with their ballasts, but the ballasts are the most important component of the kit. They control the arc and the light output is determined by the ballast.
If you want to learn more about how HIDs work, or lighting in general, we just added a new "Research" section to our site: http://www.diodedynamics.com/store/research.html Even if you don't buy from us, it's a great way to learn more about lighting Nick C.

As an update, I want to make sure everyone is fully aware of how DDM operates and warn you all NOT to purchase anything from them. Pay more elsewhere (or not) and get much better service and actually get a product you paid for.
I have been trying to deal with their support team for a week now and they keep going back and forth asking me for pictures and then telling em they are not receiving them when I send the and have attached them to their service ticket system twice. I have never dealt with a company that would work so hard to try and get you to give up and just take it.... You have all been warned... |
