Need advice, angry spiteful neighbor and my family...
So, over the last year and a half (started the day I got my FR-S) my neighbor has been very aggressive towards my family and friends, particularly my girlfriend, myself and my grandmother. I'll try to keep things in chronological order to make it easy to understand. Before I go further I'd like to make it clear that EVERYONE in our neighborhood gets along. If one house has a party or get together, everyone is there. Everyone is friendly enough to the point where we all just walk in and out of each others homes without calling up, knocking, etc. Nice place to live quite honestly. There's a few guys who own modded classics, big ass trucks, Mustangs that are straight piped as well.
October 5th 2012, brought home FR-S, neighbor was out, muttering under his breath but loud enough for us to hear about me being spoiled, a douche, the list goes on and on. Rude but tolerable. Winter of 2012, install Invidia N1 catback to my car, he comes outside after I install it screaming, shouting, piss drunk saying my family is destroying the neighborhood and it's time we GTFO lol It's been downhill from there. Lately it has been at a "stalemate" meaning that we have never retaliated but he tries to get us going. He'll block our driveway with his cars, park his cars in such a way that we can't get in or out of the driveway, etc. So, there's a repeating history here. I now have Borla UEL's, catless front pipe and the N1. I never start my car and let it idle, ever. I start it and drive easy. No neighbors complain and some have even come over to lend a hand with the car and compliment it all the time, even this 70 year old woman down the street! Now he has a BIG problem with how many cars we have. All are contained in our driveway minus my girlfriends car since she has to come and go a lot. According to him, we cannot park our cars on the street in front of my house. At all. Ever. Ok buddy, you can't buy the R.O.W. with your house (I used to do land surveying so I know a few things there). Fast forward now to Thursday night. 4 PM. My buddy leaves my house, he drives a Kia sedan, obviously not a loud car or a big ass truck. Neighbor is slightly intoxicated at this point which you can tell by slurring and wobbling. Parks one of his cars right in front of my driveway but 6 feet from the curb and staggered another one of his cars in the same manner so that no one could get up and down the street, let alone in my driveway. I managed to get through and went out for cigarettes. By the time I got back he made sure I couldn't get through so I had no choice but to park in front of his house which I did in a respectful manner, all the way up to the curb and with plenty of room between my car and his as well as his driveway. This is where everything blows up. I'm walking back to my house, get to my door and I see him come out. I walked inside and as I'm looking out my front window I see him get in the car I parked behind, throws it in reverse, hits my car and just parks it on top of my FR-S! My grandmother and I both came outside, took pictures and he comes out tearing up my grandmother. Using every word imaginable and being totally disrespectful to a 78 year old woman who has nothing to do with the situation. That's when I blew up. I went right back at him (and I do admit that shouldn't have happened and I was in the wrong as much as him.) We speak our words, his wife comes out and is respectfully and civilly talking to my grandmother and profusely apologetic. I get my car the hell out of there and go inside. Now at 10 PM things got better. My grandmother and I hear the door and my dogs are going nuts. I see it's the drunken neighbor and my grandmother wanted to speak with him because she thought he was honestly here to apologize. Wrong. He starts his screaming and cursing again at her and PUSHES his way past her and walks right into our home. I did what I had to do but never went any more physical beyond pushing him out the door and off my property. We finally call the cops as he's now standing in the middle of the road trying to go after my grandmother and I'm holding him back. The cops show up and he goes and hides, locks the doors, turns all the lights off and refuses to answer the door. They finally get him outside and have a nice long talk. Now Friday I go to Toyota and get an estimate for the damages and the prelim report is at $1.3k just for the front bumper, paint and labor. Spoke with madmans wife that night and I gave her two options, cash or insurance with a deadline. Things just keep escalating and now my grandmother has been triple checking the locks, even on the windows. I really just don't know what to do at this point. On the noise front, fine, I'm not going to apologize to anyone for modding the car I legally own that's in my name. File out a complaint report for that but that is no reason to victimize my family, intrude our home and damage our property. I'm just at my wits end with this guy.

Have the police deal with it. Should have a police report for the incident? Get the insurance info and be done with it. Wouldn't bother taking cash from them.

Yeah, keep a log of everything he does and report it to the police.

Install a wireless webcam that can see your front porch and the street.
Have a computer inside record it and go through the video & pick out the crap he pulls and put it in a nice video. Also get lots of video from your cellphone of his antics with the car parking. You will probably also get him driving drunk. When you finally need to go get a restraining order, it will be a slam dunk. |

When your neighbor hit your car, did you call the cops immediately or did you wait until he raided your house? Good luck with everything, it sounds like your neighbor has some drinking problems, make sure you take enough pictures and videos.

Burn the house down. Hes a terrorist.
Seriously this should be able to be handled in a legal matter with the police report and your insurance and you shoukd be fine. File a complaint about dunk driving they will stake out your street. |

You had your chance when he was in your house. Bat to the dome would have been my solution.

I agree with above. When he walked in your house, he was a threat. That would've been it.

Just like above I would of sucker punched that fucker right in the mouth and shut him up for good once he stepped into my house yelling. In reality just start recording him and call the cops if he steps on your property.

I think the fact that we are able to legitimately seek advice on such matters at this forum is a testament to the support offered by the community here.
Personally, I think you did the right thing keeping your cool. No excuse for what he did but definitely you can tell something is not right in his life. I would pursue this matter to the full legal extent, definitely no joke when it comes to the stafety of your family! All the best to the op. Sent from my SGH-I317M using Tapatalk

I would have lost my cool once that drunken fool stepped into my home uninvited. He really sounds obnoxious and surprised you kept up with crap for while. Good for you for not escalating things further. Right now I'd take everything to the cops and possibly take this matter to court or at least add a retraining order on him.
I just wouldn't want my family have to bear any fear especially in the comfort of their own home.

Like others have mentioned, it sounds very worthwhile to spend a couple of hundred dollars on a webcam system that will record him.
He is completely out of line and it sounds like his drinking is the problem. Call the cops for everything. When he blocked the street you should have called the cops, when he crashed into your car (while drunk) you should have called the cops. When he parks in front of your driveway, call the cops. When he came into your house, you should have called 911 right there and got him charged with forcible entry and uttering threats. The more you have on record at the local PD, the easier it will be to get a restraining order.

Much respect to you for keeping your cool. He would have been a dead drunk fuck if it happened to me. I would get a restraining order ASAP. That way if he steps foot on your property again he goes to the clink.
