How many miles are you getting per tank?

I usually drive about 75% local and 25% highway, in Queens, NY. But i think I'm getting poor gas mileage. I have only been get about 180 miles per fill up. I do have some fun driving, shifting around 5000rpm, but I mostly shift at 3000 rpm. Could I really be driving so poorly to only be getting 180 miles per tank? I know there are many mpg threads, which concerns me even more because i see many people are getting 250+miles. Could there possible be something wrong with my car? Or do i really just need to change my driving ways.

That doesn't seem normal. I believe the car holds around 13 gallons of fuel. Assuming you put in ~12 gallons that means you are only getting about 15 MPG. You should be at least be doing 250+ miles or so on a tank. Is the car ever idling for long periods of time?

Thats what i was thinking too, if I am only getting 180 miles per tank, than i would have to be getting really bad mpgs. No the car never idles for long. I know I have some spirited driving, but I honestly don't think its bad enough to only get 180 miles.

I got 340 a couple days, 90% or more was highway... As it was a 4-5hr road trip.

However, if it counts my car is boosted.

Wow thats great. So I'm guessing something is wrong with my car, do you guys have any idea of what could be causing such poor gas mileage?

u can reset ur average mpg after every fill up, its pretty accurate... i did the calculation and it was off by a tiny bit
im getting pretty bad mpg right now, low 20s. i think its cause its cold, im driving the car pretty hard, and stop/go traffic

On my current tank I've already done 140 miles and have half a tank left, all city driving, with various blasts to redline

hmmm so i guess i should monitor it for a few more days since thats usually how long a tank lasts for me. Do you think the dealer might be able to find whats wrong, because i really doubt its the way i drive, I know I'm not THAT bad.

@dad&sonFRS - Around 330+ per tank usually, though I haven't really driven long distance all winter so my numbers are lower now.

@dad&sonFRS, in first post you say you do approx 75% local and noticed your location says Queens,NY. How much of that local portion is in snail pace heavy congestion traffic? If you are than that would be one factor why the bad mileage.

and I drive almost 100% in town, 80% of the tank is my daily commute to/from work which is only 5 miles - so the car never warms up. So unless you drive it like a dog, that's probably worst case scenario. After the car is broken in I will probably average 22-24 mpg
