FR-S same price as original AE86

...Adjusted for inflation that is.

It appears the MSRP in 1988 was $12.5k

So if you adjust for inflation that becomes about $24.5k in 2012 dollars. So the new 86 costs about the same as the old one, in relative terms.

Wrong car, that is an AE92. It was FWD and came after the last year of the AE86 which was 1987 in the US.

Price was about the same for the AE86.

My AE86 cost $16,420 in 1986 in Canada.

Found a thread on club4ag, window sticker from a 1986 with typical options was $13k, which would be $27k today. A bare-bones version (no PS, no LSD, no AC, steel wheels, etc) would have been about $10,700 => $22,200.

yes 7k must be for the dx because my ae86 (sr5) started around 9k with the GTS models running 10-11k
