New FR-S Owner in Austin TX

Picked up a '13 FR-S yesterday after taking a test drive. I had absolutely no intention to buy one as I had been in the market for a nice sedan since I recently sold my '06 Acura TL. I pretty much fell in love with it on the test drive and being a 2013 they knocked $1500 off and since I was leasing it I got an additional $500 off. I tried to get a little more off since it had 278 miles on it but they would not budge. It was the only silver 6spd car they had so I said I would take it. This is the 44th car I have purchased and have owned several Z31 300zx’s, a couple of classic Z cars, all kinds of muscle and sports car throughout the years. I had read all the reviews on them and just wanted to take one for a test drive. After just a few miles I was hooked. This car really fit me, both physically and mentally. It was easy to drive, gave tons of feedback, and just put a smile on my face that would not go away. Last week I had the opportunity to drive an ’07 911 Carrera with a 6spd stick and the FR-S felt so much like it, only I could afford this one.

Since it is a lease I have no plans to mod it but I will do the recommended transmission and diff fluid change just to be on the safe side. For now I am looking forward to waking up a little early and taking the long way to work so I can enjoy some more seat time in it.

I'm not that upto snuff with FR-S stuff, but as for mods, aren't those DRL's aftermarket? In for a penny; in for a dollar...or so they say?

Those DRL's are also on a FR-S at my dealership which leads me to believe it is a dealership add on. Nevertheless, it is a nice mix of spice. Good looking car!

Thanks for the compliments guys. I love silver cars, easy color to maintain and keep clean, and it always looks modern regardless of age. When I was restoring my '72 240Z I wanted to paint it silver but never got to the paint and body phase. I am happy to finally have something that really feels like what I would have wanted out of my 240z and in the color combo I was going for.

In regards to the DRL's, I will have to look at the window sticker to see how they are listed. I honestly did not notice they were anything different until I started looking at more FR-S pics on the net. I will report back later today with my findings.

I looked at the window sticker and it has as optional equipment "LED accent lighting" I cannot find anything that specifically says LED DRL's but I am assuming that is what it is referring to.

The amount of stuff dealers add now a days, OEM or not is getting out of hand...

Too many variations of cars with real and non legit parts. It will be confusing for a lot of people.

Yep - Round Rock Scion adds them for a nice dealer markup of about $300.

where'd you get it from? I got mine a few months ago from Round Rock Scion and have had good customer service from them.

Charles Maund, on the other hand, was a terrible dealership for me. Wouldn't even let me test drive the FR-S and kept trying to pressure me into a 535i M-sport package.
