Just hit 1000 Miles
I just hit 1000 miles into my breaking in period and I've been wondering should I change all the fluids before my 5000 service change. I'm thinking about changing the oil, oil filter, and transmission fluid. Should I do it before my 5000 miles by myself or take it to the service center before 5000 miles? or should I just wait after 5000 miles...
Any ideas? |

Can't hurt to change the transmission and differential fluids at 5K. I changed mine around there and the diff had a lot of goop on the magnetic drain plug.
The transmission can benefit from a top of the line fluid for shift feel (particularly when its cold out). |

I am pretty sure you bring it into Toyota at 7,500 miles. It is totally your call. I think at 3,500 miles you should do everything you mentioned, then go in to Toyota at 7,500. The first 1,000 miles you aren't really pushing the car that hard, at least I didn't.
