Standard air box on kits?

Hi guys,

I was wondering why I've seen a lot of the turbo and SC kits with the standard airbox. Is there a specific reason why?

I've currently got a Perrin cold intake in my car and I wondered if that could be used instead? Depending on which kit I go for off course

Keeping the factory air box looks clean and oem, plus it doesn't seem to be a restriction with a decent filter in it. You can use whatever intake you want, as long as the car is tuned for it

At least for our kit, several reasons:

1) Helps make the kit look as OEM as possible. If/when somebody inspects the engine bay to see if it's been modified, one of the first things they look at is the air box.

2) Keeps the intake air temps down as it maintains the proper flow of colder air from the front bumper area, instead of from the hot engine bay.

3) Easier to tune with less issues with the MAF.

We have seen the Airaid bolt right up to AVO and Innovate Supercharger kits with no problems. Too boot they did improve the top end horsepower a few ponies.

Cheers,

Any intake that mates to the OEM intake pipe can be used. There's no real downside to that either unless the intake is utter junk. Just use the Perrin, the tune will just need adjusting slightly.
