Variable Gemoetry Turbo (VGT)

http://igotasti.com/vBforum/showthre...tion-on-an-sti

Controllable turbo blades...

If I read correctly; fully closed A/R is .35. Fully open A/R is 2.01...hot damn.

Porsche has been using these for a while now to great effect. I've never seen an aftermarket application, though.

I can only imagine how insane this sort of technology would be when combined with a twin scroll design and EFR materials.

However, after reading that thread on VGT, it sounds extremely complicated. Sometimes complexity is a good thing, but at the same time, more complexity can lead to larger room for error. One can dream, though.

Variable vane turbos are big in the world of aftermarket diesel trucks. They haven't quite made their way to the aftermarket sports car yet

As mentioned used by Porsche on the 911 Turbo and several diesel truck applications. It makes a lot of sense, I'd love to see more aftermarket uses.

Not about to shell out 5 large ones for just a turbo tho...although if the pockets are deep and ya got an itchy credit card wrist, i cant see why not.

If porsche can use them, then im sure with enough R&D an FRS can too, then again anything is possible with enough R&D.

Direct injection was in diesels for decades and now it's everywhere.
Give it time.

Well damn. I figured expensive complicated turbo - you need an expensive complicated ECU to control the beast.
