Mosport Karting 2014 Schedule

http://mosportinternationalkarting.c...veschedule.pdf

I know it's not the road course but it still technically is HPDE.

I am trying to convince a bunch of people to go for the season. They haven't confirmed this season's pricing but you are looking at the following costs (all in CAD):

Membership = $149.99
Photo liscence = $10
Per Race cost = $60
Pit Deposit = $120 (will be refunded at the end of the season if you show up for all events OR can be used towards next season)

If you run all ten races, the above totals out to around $858 CAD (deposit not included).

I've personally been to the go-karting track and love the course - it could use a marshal or two on the outside part of the course but that is nitpicking. Karts are full racing karts with 6.5 racing engine with CRG karts.

More info here: http://www.mosportinternationalkarting.com/index.html

Who's in?

Better yet, who's in for karting AND road course???

Have not officially registered yet since my group is still ho-humming which day to go. Right now the consensus appears to be Sunday mornings.

Just to let you know last year we had a fellow switch from Sunday to our Saturday schedule just because he found the guys raced clean and fair and were willing to help a newbie improve his race craft.

Thanks for the heads up. Our group is definitely a no go for Saturdays unfortunately and as much as I would like to enjoy learning with your Saturday crew, I would like to stick with my group.

I might just show up as an arrive and drive on Saturday every now and then given my work schedule might have me fly out on Sunday nights.

Well I hope your group does get to enjoy the racing together on Sunday. It does sharpen your skills and reduce the need for speed on the streets. That being said you do become more of an apex hunter. I will try and drop by some Sunday to see how you and your group are doing, as it's a good time for me if I have a makeup race to do.

So now that we're into our second event of the season, I've already spotted one guy who is a serious danger to himself and others that Ken hasn't quite spotted. I think his name is Dan and he is a big guy in a red suit. The rules I go by is what Ken (the race director) set forth at the beginning of the season: if your front axle is un front of his rear, he has to yield to him. I always check my spots and everytime I am aware someone is close and they break the plane, I will wave them by so they are fully aware of it and I will give them the line. This guy will force you inside and run you out. I was pretty pissed at him and turns out in our final race for the day, he ran someone else out as well but on a yellow flag. Surprisingly, no one caught that. Will keep an eye out.

Me too, I hate sounding like a sore loser but I ain't in it to win it. In the end, I'm just racing myself.

I wound up dead last this past Sunday and I hate saying this but I had a really shitty kart. My buddy with me was surprised at how easy he passed me and commented as such after we were done. I simply could not hold a good race line (no grip, throttle was so damned touchy).

In the end once I got passed (I dropped to dead last IN THE FIRST LAP) - I simply decided to post a quick time and see how I would rank against my qualifying and pre-race best time. I was almost 1.5 seconds slower on my BEST lap that race compared to my best TOD.

So damned frustrating. I know Ken tries to maintain his karts but it's not fun for the sucker with the shitty kart.

Can't wait till I get my fun car and move to the big track - I just want to do time attacks all day.

Was it dry? We had a wet track for all of our event. That tends to even out the karts a bit.

It was 99.9% dry - cold as heck.

There were three puddles:

1- After turn one on the mini straight there was a puddle to the left of the track
2- The last turn before the long straight at the apex had a nasty invisible puddle. I say invisible because it was just dark and the rumble strips hid it.
3- Towards the outside of the track after the last turn before the straight

I also have another thing working against me - my weight. I'm 218lbs! The top 3 in my class have been up there all 4 events now, am not even going to bother with them. I usually qualify 8th or 9th out of 13. Hope to move up a couple of spots by end of season.
