At least no one will have a hard time finding their seatbelts...

All I can say is, give the BRZ an extra 50hp (the same power/weight ratio), the same type of tires and the manual transmission (who's dumb idea was it to test the auto?) and we'll see who comes out on top... you'll undoubtedly spend more money, but that's what it takes.

this pretty much confirms what i was thinking all along

the RS is better for less money. in holland a RS costs 34k and the BRZ 40k.

I'm not surprised. Renault Megane RS is one hell of a track car.

the driver seems to be somewhat lacking in driving skill. that, and the person doing the "review" wasn't even the one driving the car. i'm sure the renault was more fun to the passenger with a sub-par driver; it has more torque and more overall grip. pointless review.

The video is pretty meh. Evo still haven't figured that part of their content delivery out.
But to call John Barker a driver lacking skill just shows how easy it is on the interwebs to spout nonsense.

i'm not the only person to get that impression from the driving in the video. he seemed very jerky and off-balance, if that makes any sense. i wasn't impressed. maybe it was just the video delivery, which is unfortunate if that's the case.

EDIT: i just re-watched the video, and it seems like he "throws" the car into turns; he really jerks the wheel on more than one occasion at initial turn-in when he's driving the renault. far from what i (and many others) would consider ideal.

The one jerky bit I believe was pif-paf, where he was trying to induce the rearend to break loose IIRC from the EVO magazine track review he wrote.

Definitely think it is a case of just not being able to get on with the car and in the written review, not this pretty poor video, he conveys those sentiments.

Still makes no sense why Subaru ever gave them the autobox in the first place :-s

HOLY SHIT.

DID HE JUST SAY THAT THE CAR HAS NO BALANCE AND DOESN'T STEP THE REAR OUT?

What the hell is going on at EVO?

if you watch right at the 2 minute mark in the video, he "preloads" the wheel, repositions his hands and then jerks the wheel hard left.

i will agree that he didn't get along with the car, and i'm also amazed/annoyed that they were given an automatic to test. this whole comparison still seems incredibly pointless to me, i think we can all agree on that! the comparison against the mustang is much better and more informative, in my opinion.
