Perrin 2.5 resonated exhaust tone change?
So I've had my Perrin exhaust for about 3k miles already.
I've noticed that some days the exhaust sounds louder than other days and when in low rpms my exhaust rattles like crazy like if it was hitting something. Anyone else had this problem before?? |

I have over 10k miles on my Perrin 2.5 resonated with absolutely nothing to complain about. Mine didn't develop any extra noises until I installed the catless header, but that's just the extra exhaust flow. Mine has plenty of clearance, even with the aluminum drive shaft. I'd have to hear yours to know what you're talking about.

Do you drive an auto or 6SP. I know on very rare ocassions a few people had complaints with Perrin 2.5 exhausts and AT BRZ's. Not sure if I ever read/heard of a report on FR-S's

Nope, I haven't noticed anything like that on mine. Did you re-check all your clamps to make sure they are all tight? It's usually a good idea to re-tighten everything after you put some miles on a new exhaust.

I had a rattle once on my system because I didn't put a bolt in the front pipe holder/adjuster and it just rattled at 3k rpm because the front pipe could move left and right. Soon as I noticed my mistake and added the bolt, no rattle!
Just like others have said, go back and check your clamps and mount bolts and make sure everything is tight. New exhausts also should be retightened after they are broken in after a few weeks of driving. |
