I love the game but it is so damn hard on NORMAL levels. I remember my first playthrough and surviving the whole gauntlet only to get to the last level and be told "Well then, you have to fight the boss!" who is this ridiculous ship... MULTIPLE TIMES!

ARRRGH!

I also find that the Osprey or whatever ship that has the Artillery Beam is your best bet to beat anyone primarily because the beam ignores all shields and cannot miss. It also cuts through a large area so you are likely to hit a soft spot like shields or engines and allow an opening for more attacks.

I think the best load out to beat the boss is:

- 2x Burst Laser Mark II
Reason: The Mark II gives you best bang for buck. Only requires two power but fires three shots every 12 seconds (at most - will decrease with proficiency). The Mark I requires also two power but only fires ONE shot every 11 seconds (boo) whereas the Mark III requires 4 power but fires 5 shots but every 19 seconds! The Mark II imho is the best overall since it can lay heavy fire to whittle down shields. Having two of them will whittle down even the boss's shields and STILL penetrate for 1 to 2 damage.

The problem I have is that finding a second Mark II Burst laser is next to impossible (I've only ever encountered it a handle of times).

Missiles are iffy - huge cost to you if you miss and have to restock. Laser don't cost you anything.

Beam weapons are cool only if you whittle down the shields but if you have the firepower to whittle down shields why not just whittle down them too?

I bought it a while back, played it a bit, and haven't started it again yet. So much other stuff to play. But I'd highly recommend the game, it is a lot of fun.

haven't played it yet, but it looks like it might be pretty cool
